Maybe this will convince you...

  1. Hey fellow Pacific Ring of Fire residents: Maybe this will convince you to strap hot water heaters, bookcases, and loose cabinets to the walls if you haven't done so already:

Please make time to visit the West Seattle Be Prepared website:

  2. Mookie,
I spent a while looking through the links and can't find one thing. The WS neighborhood communication hubs look great but do you know of anything similar downtown? The police stations, fire stations maybe?

If something happens during the work day I wonder if WS people have preferred ways or methods of getting back from workplaces on the other side of the bridge.

  5. Thanks westseattledood! As one of the West Seattle Be Prepared peeps, I can tell you that there aren't yet any firmly established groups or hubs downtown. There are a few folks who live in Belltown that are starting to organize their neighborhood. Capitol Hill is the nearest neighborhood to downtown that has a preparedness group & is working to establish hubs; their contact info is linked from the "Other Communities" page in the Resources section of our site.
    .
Anyone interested in organizing new neighborhood groups (outside of West Seattle) can contact the Office of Emergency Management directly. Or, get in touch with our group via or website & we can put you in touch with the right people.
    .
kr, it would be great to see West Seattle folks who work in other neighborhoods network with each other in case something occurs during the workday! Feel free to float that idea on our Facebook page as well as here.
