Will changing your screen name change whether you're a bigot or not?
Posted 10 months ago # -
Well, here's what ye olde wikipedia says:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JiggerWhat is the origin of your screen name, Jiggers?
Posted 10 months ago # -
I just thought you were a bartender.
Posted 10 months ago # -
I vote to keep "Jiggers." Somehow, it seems to fit your personality.
Posted 10 months ago # -
A friend of mine had a Scotch terrier named Jiggers. He was a stodgy, curmudgeonly, sometimes endearing little fellow. Didn't strike me as a bigot.

Jiggers:
I always enjoy your posts.
Some of us get carried away at times. I know that I do more than most. For this, I apologize.
Please don't change your screen name.
That would be akin to Mayor McSchwinn changing his name to Mayor McGinn.
It does not fit.
Truly, I enjoy your comments. You are classy, IMHO.
Posted 10 months ago # -
are you?
Posted 10 months ago # -
shed22:
Of course not. IMHO I am as flawed as some people, more flawed than most. Just the fact that I would answer your question demonstrates I am totally lacking in class. I think I will join Todd in Westwood and sign out permanently. Auf Wiedersehen.
Posted 10 months ago # -
Keep it.
Growing up my cousins had a great springer spaniel named "Jigs" short for Jigger...
Posted 10 months ago # -
Or was it Westseattledood? Can't say for sure. My memory is also flawed.

redblack slaps Genesee Hill with a large, wet trout.
that was for the cheap shot at the mayor.
but to the topic, what's this "jiggers" that everyone is on about?
Posted 10 months ago # -
Genesee...don't sign out. I'll be blogging here by myself if you go off into the wind.
Posted 10 months ago # -
This forum is like the movie 12 angry men and besides changing your name won't make you any less of a bigot.
Posted 10 months ago # -
I just always assumed that it was a bartending reference... I think that your name is fine.
Posted 10 months ago # -
mpento FTW.
you owe me a beer and a new keybo11111111111ard.
Posted 10 months ago # -
That's what it was. I used to bartend way back when in the islands.
Posted 10 months ago # -
Genesee Hill. . . my post was intended for the OP.
Posted 10 months ago # -
Genesee Hill: I think shed22 might have been asking Jiggers if he's a bigot, as opposed to whether you are classy or not.
My memory was that it was Todd in Westwood who said he was quitting the forums after he (?) got jumped on about not wanting the MMJ lounge in his neighborhood.

thanks chrisma.

It would be nice to have threaded comments here. Don't know if BB Press supports that though.
Posted 10 months ago # -
it will support links to content...
but don't you think threaded comments would only make some posts more confusing?
it would certainly make them more workfor the reader.. i mean ;->
Posted 10 months ago # -
@JoB: maybe. It can get a little tedious to read through them when they get long. What's your take on what shed22 was asking? Or maybe shed22 will come back and clarify.
Posted 10 months ago # -
????shed22 already clarified (#18)

half the fun of some of the free wheeling conversations on the forum are the conversations within conversations...
where else do you get to listen in to someone else's conversation and comment with impunity?
that is.. as long as you stick to the rules of conduct:)
The forum has what would seem to be a very useful feature... the ignore button.
you can ignore anyone at all..the only problem is that when you ignore them you never see their posts...
making it difficult at times to follow the conversation when you don't see the post that created it...sub-conversations are like that...
if you don't see them you can miss content that is critical to the growth of an argument.Because of that.. i may choose not to reply to someone..
but i seldom choose to ignore them entirely.Posted 10 months ago # -
It's swell and I wouldn't change it.
On a personal note, I have been known to use the word "bigger" and the term "go figger" and I do not believe this qualifies me as bigot. At least not based on that.
Posted 10 months ago # -
You have to keep it! I enjoy your posts and make sure I read yours while skimming over others.
Posted 10 months ago # -
When I was a child my mother's best friend was called Jiggers. So, even though I once met you in person quite awhile back and know what you look like, I still picture you in my mind as a now 80+ year old woman.
Posted 10 months ago # -
squareyes...
jiggers takes on a whole new dimension as an 80+ year old woman :)Posted 10 months ago # -
Gawd forbid I have to go to Rite Aid and pick me up a couple of pink boxes OF 36 or 42 count diapers....:)
Posted 10 months ago # -
jiggers..
i think they make them in blue too ;->
you'd be surprised who is buying them these days.Posted 10 months ago # -
To avoid the controversy I think you should change your name to "Sambo." As a family-friendly restaurant Sambo's used to make some pretty good pancakes. Who doesn't like pancakes? Mmmmmmmm, syrup.
Posted 10 months ago # -
LOL..I take the plate like a kid and lick the rest of the syrup up.
Posted 10 months ago # -
Hmmmmm jiggers how can we all say the jig is up if you give up on jiggers.....besides rumor has that secert is within the syrup.... jiggers 80 yrs old and syrup virgin.....nope don't buy that
Posted 10 months ago # -
Bigot? Who knows. Attention seeker. Often. We'd still know who you are when you ask your quarterly question, "what's in it for men to get married?"
Posted 10 months ago # -
My vote is don't change it. When I first found this blog in Ocober 2007 I used a different name (Indaknow). At the time I chose the name as a joke because I was involved in many of the discussions about my child's school and it was a reference to being on the "inside". Fast forward a few years and I "discovered" the forums. I already had the "me on 28th Ave" name from the Seattle Times and other forum boards and kept forgetting my logins between them so I switched to just the one name. I always felt weird about it though, like I had dropped off the face of the earth or entered a witness protection plan or something...
Posted 10 months ago # -
Indaknow I always read as Ida Know, from the Family Circus cartoon. Always thought grandpainheaven would be a great screen name.
A jigger shakes things up. And I find that to be an accurate description of Jiggers. Who also is good at weather prediction.
Posted 10 months ago # -
I do recall, sometime back, a then newer poster believing "Jiggers" was a racially offensive name.
TR (WSB Editor) commented that Jiggers had been a long time participant here in the Forums, and that she believed that Jiggers had no intention of being racially offensive.
For myself, even though I am well aware of a racially offensive word that starts out similarly,
the thought of the word "Jiggers" being another form of the offensive word never crossed my mind.I've only ever thought of it as being liquorly motivated. ;-)
Although I may not always agree with Jiggers, I've enjoyed many of his posts, and he is on my list of WSB'ers that I'd like to meet face to face. (and that list has gotten shorter and shorter over the last couple of months! ;-) )

yeah.bluebird.. I'm still trying to figure out what's in it for a guy to get married? Tax break?
Posted 10 months ago # -
Jiggers, I enthusiastically vote for you to keep your nom de screen. I just figured it meant you like your booze. Oh, and as for your quarterly question about marriage: There's absolutely no reason for you to tie the knot. Stay single, my friend!
Posted 10 months ago # -
jiggers..
as long as you keep asking what's in it for you
you won't get much out of marriagemake some woman happy
stay singlequarterly question asked and answered ;->
Posted 10 months ago # -
Its hard enough keeping myself happy alone. I like a lot of time to myself so being in a relatonship wouldn't work out for me.
