DaveBParticipantThis isn’t a rant but a question to the WSB Forum readers, so I have not contacted management.
My wife and I have been happy with Mawadda, both the food and the service, since they opened. We haven’t patronized them in a few months, but got takeout on Friday when some friends were visiting, and neither the food nor the service was up to snuff.
-They were out of rice and it wouldn’t be ready for almost an hour, and I had to ask for pita as a substitute (I’d expect that they would have offered this, or to reduce the price).
-My wife doesn’t like feta. They said no longer put ingredients on the side, which they had done many times before. I asked for it to be excluded from a dish; even though the man taking the order confirmed this twice, it was still on the dish when we got it home.
-The food (specifically the grilled meat) was not as flavorful nor as plentiful as it has been in the past.
I am asking if anyone else has noticed any decline in quality and/or service recently. I know any place can have an off night, so I am not ready to give up on them.
Thanks in advance.

SueParticipantI’ve been there a few times, but have not been there probably in at least 6 months. The reason for that is that the service was always very, very slow. I understand that it’s not fast food, but waiting 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge me at the counter when I want to order was a bit much, and then the long wait for the food. So while the food is really good, it’s the wait that kept me from going back as often. On my last visit they had no problem with food being out, nor keeping feta off a dish (I also don’t like it). But again, it’s been a while.

WSBKeymasterDo note that the cafe has been listed for sale for a while:
http://www.commercialmls.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=property.detailBO&ln=120466
We’ve seen that listing for at least a few months. We don’t routinely report restaurant-sale listings any more as we’ve also noticed that they come and go – sometimes a restaurant will be posted, the listing will stay up a few months, then the listing will go away without an ownership change. But since you bring it up, it’s worth noting. Perhaps it’s already changed hands. Usually the only indication we get of that is when liquor-license transfer applications turn up in the state’s database.

DaveBParticipantThanks, Tracy. If you don’t know everything happening in West Seattle, it must be close to 99%.
