Here's Springhills new menu and name. Coming from Hawaii myself, I call this menu all ballz. I can't wait to get in and kaukau. Ono in Hawaiian means delicious. I love red velvet cake too...

Had dinner there Feb 10. The whole rainbow trout was deeee-licious! The marinated beet salad was really unique. We were at the communal table so got to observe a few other dishes being served. I want to try pretty much everything on the menu.

The beauty of living out here is that you can combine Northwest cuisine to almost anything. Just some imagination and you can create a whole new experience of taste and flavors. Like what's being done here. It's not rocket science, just be more original.

I'm sure it's very good.....but at what point do you price yourself out of the realm for most regular folk.? I'm asking. Am I in the minority about this? When spending "entertainment" dollars, do others weigh in with what the bottom line is on the menu, or do you just say the hell with it and put it on plastic?(something I don't do at all)
For the record...the menu looks fantastic...I'm sure it's yummy..I'm not knocking that in the least...

I think that there is not one set definition of "regular folk" and we get into trouble if we assume that everyone is the same.
Some people like to save up their cash to go out to a nice place rather than visit fast-food joints or brew-pubs. So, while this is spendy, it's not the most expensive place in Seattle, certainly.
West Seattle needs food at every budget and I am more than happy to support Spring Hill and now Ma'ono.

Hey Chef Mark.... I'd like for you to put a favorite of mines on the menu soon. Local Moco..with your own twist of course...:)

Maybe the new Spring Hill should offer Kama'aina discounts for WS locals :-)

Personally, I'm with you, Jan, but ya gotta remember, you're living in a town where people think nothing of dropping $10 for the privilege of standing in line in a rainy parking lot, just to get some food-truck food on a paper plate.
You're living in a town where people pay $4+ for a fancy cup of coffee EVERY MORNING OF THEIR LIVES. ( God knows what they'd pay for a drink with some horsepower . . . Somebody mentioned $10 for a martini once. Pff! )
Me, I get great home-cooked ethnic food and a story ** FOR FREE ** at the monthly White Center Community Cultural Center storytelling events.
I used to promote those events here on the Forum, but as far as I can tell, no one from the Blog EVER came to any of them, so I quit mentioning them. I figure, hell, if people wanna pay $$$ for ethnic food at a trendy restaurant (minus the cultural story), let 'em.
So yeah . . . pricey restaurants in Seattle. It's a snob thing.
(OK, whom did I just piss off? Jiggers at least, I assume.)
