DuckitudeMemberI’m back trying to keep these issues on the radar screen. There are two recent articles here that have dropped off the right sidebar listing that I want to remind our neighborhoods about. They are at
2 more Lowman Beach updates: “Save (the) Park” meeting, more
“Save Lowman Beach”: New legal fund; another meeting planned
The neighborhoods will be dealing with these issues and concerns for the next several years, so they aren’t going away soon and they are BIG issues.
So, I guess I will be back fairly often to keep this on the radar screen at WSB. Maybe, since it is such a long term issue, WSB could create a forum and list it at the forums page — something like Lowman Beach Park and Murray/Barton Sound Pollution.
We are still collecting online signatures to reject all the options currently proposed by King County for the Lowman Beach Park million gallon tank project at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/save-lowman-beach-park-and-neighborhood
Thank you for your consideration and help!

DuckitudeMemberokie… dokie… but, where is the outrage? I guess off leash dogs and cats are more important than what happens to Puget Sound, the absolute jewel of America on its way out due to pollution…

celeste17ParticipantHi Ron,
I have signed the petition and when I am available I will definably attend a meeting. This is important to anyone who lives in WS.

bebecatMemberI am outraged and sickened……but I agree people are more concerned about whether they are going get a Trader Joe’s in West Seattle? Go figure. Our beautiful vintage park is at risk….sewage is polluting the sound….the fish are dying…..sad…. I have signed your petition and written to the public officials.

DuckitudeMemberThanks! Keep the drums beating! KCWTD is definitely not moving towards a true stakeholders involvement and our representatives are moving fairly slow. We need a moratorium on planning until stakeholders are significantly involved. I have started the debate(s) at http://www.SoundAngels.org and will be inviting KCWTD and others to the debate.

JoBParticipantfighting city hall is never easy or popular… still.. it’s necessary in this case.

lazybeardParticipantHow do you sign the petition? I’ve created a logon, used Internet Explorer 8.0 and Firefox 3.6.3 and both have the same results. I can see the Sign Petition graphic but there isn’t a link for it and thus leaves me scratching my head.
Help!

DuckitudeMemberHi Lazybeard: The online petition is at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/save-lowman-beach-park-and-neighborhood
It should show up nicely. I haven’t seen any problems with it yet. You don’t even have to be a member or anything or create an ID there.
Hope the link above works for you. Thanks!

DuckitudeMemberHi JoB: Thanks for the support on this issue. Crack the whip!

DuckitudeMemberThis just in from a very high ranking person in a Puget Sound clean water organization who has been helping us on these issues — “I met with Christy True, and I have spoken to some other King County staff as well, and their intention is to work with the community, share information, set up a stakeholder committee, etc. So this is good news.”
Hopefully, this will pan out as indicated. You never know for sure until you see the action, as they say.
