   At the alley just East of Fauntleroy, I saw a rather friently white dog with a few black patches. Has a collar but no tags (owner needs to see to that upon recovery - I can't be of much help without tags.) He/She appears to be a Terrier/Bulldog mix with two different color eyes (1 black, 1 blue.) Hope this reaches his favorite human! :-)

   This dog ran into the Westside Unitarian Universalist Church service. My daughter saw her first and yelled, "It's a dog! It's a dog." She was super friendly. Two congregants took her up to the West Seattle Animal Hospital where they scanned her but she didn't have a microchip. After that she went to Animal Control. I hope her owner finds her. She had a cute red or dark pink polka dotted collar and she was really dirty, like she'd maybe had to dig her way out. And she was super hyper and friendly. My daughter wanted to bring her home, but we are maxed out on pets.

   Thanks for your reply, Cheryl. My husband (who posted the original post) and I are members of WSUU. I wasn't there, but he was and didn't even see the dog come into service. He found it before service 2 blocks south. I have a feeling that he didn't even realize it probably followed him to church!

   So that's what happened! It was the high point of Clara's day to be the first to see her come in. I hope she's back with her family.

   In my experience with the Seattle Animal Control if a dog is not claimed within like 3 days they are put down.

   Dogs sheltered by Seattle Animal Control are not automatically put down after 3 days; but they may be; pending on circumstances such as space at the shelter; adoptability, etc. Sounds like this friendly pup might be put up for adoption or fostered while looking for an adopting family. Too bad there was no microchip nor tags on the collar. Kudos to all of the caring individuals who have helped this dog.

   One of the greatest gifts we can give to our pets is a free ride home--via a Microchip. Last week a lovely, well cared for, black dog showed up at our work place. No collar/tags, so we put him in the car and drove him to Regional Animal Services-King County.

   The officer immediately scanned this friendly guy...beep..beep..beep! Boston is a 1 year old pup/dog and a voice mail was left on his human's phone so the two of them could be reunited. In the meantime, he was in a safe place.

   The strays dogs in have found in our neighborhood over the last few years have been putdown and we were told so by the Animal Control Officer. So my policy is to not take the animals there but to a no kill shelter.
