Hi Lost_Kitty.
You are correct...since Buster is an indoor cat, he is most likely hunkered down somewhere in your yard. Here are a few suggestions and thoughts:
1. We will loan you one of our humane traps and show you how to use it; where to place it, etc.
2. If possible, leave your door open, as many cats will run inside for safety.
3. Start feeding Buster outside, near the door, calling his name when you put the food out--then move away from the dish. Put the food where you can see him if he eats, but he cannot necessarily see you.
4. Crawl through your yard/surrounding area, looking under every bush, porch, etc. You want to be at your cat's eye level...where would you hide if you were a cat? Then...look up..he may have found safety in a tree.
5. Ask ajoining neighbors if you can search their yard in the same way.
6. Check Missing Pet Partnership's website for more suggestions on indoor cats that have gotten outside: http://www.missingpetpartnership.org/recovery-displacedcat.php
Please call or email us if you would like to borrow one of our humane traps. We could get a trap to you sometime tonight, or tomorrow. furryfaces@hotmail.com or 206-321-4729
