   The hubby is about to embark on paternity leave and we're always looking for good activities for us and our daughter (4 months). Does anyone know of formal and informal classes (baby yoga, swim, etc) or activities (play groups - dad based) in WS?

   Multitude of them and it's our badness for not having a comprehensive list (yet).

   For starters, may I recommend the fabulous community centers of West Seattle for activities of all ages ... leafing through the printed version of the brochure, "baby/infant" doesn't leap out at me but it's still worth a look. Online link (all area community centers in WS plus South Park):

   That brochure also includes Southwest Pool schedules. Their youngest "classes" start at 6 months - maybe your daughter will arrive at that milestone while dad's still on leave?

   Forum traffic tends to be slower on weekends (and of course holidays) so many of the people I expect to have some good advice for you may not check in till tomorrow, but I'm throwing that one out for starters. Good luck!

   You cannot do better than to join a Parent/Infant class through South Seattle Community College; this excellent program is a support group/play group/parent education/child education/fun all rolled into one. The phone number for infant class enrollment is 206-935-8098.

   My children are now adults, but the relationships I formed in that program endure. I will be forever grateful to the neighbor who pointed me in that direction.

   There are classes for parents/infants at both YMCA's - West Seattle and Fauntleroy - swimming (starting at 6 mos, though) and Nurturing Pathways: http://www.nurturingpathways.com/li-seattle.html

   Kindermusik offers music classes at Kenyon Hall: http://www.kindermusik.com/Classes/ClassesFind.aspx?n=t#C

   The Little Gym is coming to West Seattle in November. They are already enrolling for the new location. Here is the WSB post: http://westseattleblog.com/blog/?p=19904

   Community Centers have toddler gyms but you probably will be interested in them a little later.

   It's mostly moms but dads are certainly welcome!

   you might check out the West Seattle Parents of Babes. http://moms.meetup.com/1926/

   they probably have a ton of ideas since many of the children in the group would be your daughter's age.

   You might also check into PEPS. They have a program for babies 5-12 months called Baby Peppers (moms and dads welcome) - not sure if they meet in West Seattle but it's worth a look! http://www.pepsgroup.org
