   Our laptop finally crapped out on us. We have already purchased a new one so fixing the laptop is not a big deal. However, our 3rd quarter business invoices and pictures are in there. That's all I want out of there. Does anyone have a reccomendation. No, I did not back it up. I know, bad me. Lesson learned.

   I, and probably many others, can highly recommend Ken here on WSB! I'm sure it depends on what crapped out, but he was able to rescue files for me. If he doesn't see this/respond directly, I'll go see if I can find his info.

   yeah I can do it.

   Or I can loan you the piece to do it yourself if you have a desktop with an open ide connector on the ribbon cable.

   I just found a spare one while consolidating tool boxes.

   Also you can just put it in an external 2 1/2 in usb drive enclosure and keep using it on the new laptop as a backup drive.

   I would like the corpse for parts if you have no other plans for it :)

   I will even do the pull and backup whichever way you want in exchange if it is a model I already have in the "maybe fixable with the right parts" pile.

   If it is a newer sata laptop drive it does not even need any adapters to be put in a desktop as an extra drive.

   Amazon prime has a few enclosures to select from and some of them are less than 10.00

   I think I have a few extra ide enclosures around the garage too if you need it today.

    I have a pc that runs osx 10.5.8

    Is that close enough?

    I fix macs and pcs and there is indeed a tool for every job.

    I just like to take my tools apart and change them.

    Apple frowns on this.
