Looking for apples

I inhereted an apple cider press from my grandfather last year. Every fall we would make cider and freeze it. Sadly his property was sold by my family and now I am on the hunt for a few different kinds of apples to make cider this fall with my own family. I know a lot of apples go to waste so I am hoping to find someone with excess apples on their trees that would be willing to let us come and pick some in exchange for some cider. Thanks!

I would love some apples as well - something good for pies and applesauce! If anyone has a tree we can pick let me know how to contact you.
    Thanks!

There are a 2-3 apple trees located on property owned by the Seattle Department of Transportation just off of Delridge Way at SW Edmunds Street. The area is just behind, East of, Pearls. The fruit falls to the ground each year. The trees are tall, so have either a tall ladder or pick it up off the ground.

Almost every year I have bags and boxes of apples to give away from just one tree with four grafted apples onto it. But this year is its year of rest and it is producing very little.

I would be interested in some apples also. Is there a farm or someplace where you can go pick them or a road side stand?

  7. Plan a road trip to Yakima or Wenatchee. Years ago, the packing houses would sell boxes for less than ten dollars. I don't know what they sell for now but it should be cheap even with the gas.

Call for box prices. I know there are more and maybe the Yakima farmers market is still active.

I was really hoping to find something local, but I will check out the Yakima links. Thanks Ken.

  9. Must be the weather. My usually productive Gravenstine has next to nothing on it.
