Kristin_SMemberI am a stay at home mom in West Seattle of a wonderful 14 month old boy. I recently learned that I have to have a pretty serious abdominal surgery and need to figure out a child care solution for at least 2 months. At this point I am flexible, but would ideally like 3-4 days a week of care (open to full time as well), in our home or in a nanny share situation. I’m also open to a daycare as well but most places I’ve called are filled. :( Please let me know if you are interested. Thank you very much.

angelescrestParticipantI’m so sorry to hear about your situation. Yikes!
It was recently suggested that I try care.com for our own situation (it came well-recommended), and I’ve gotten a great response.
Be well!

julie98106ParticipantDear Kristin,
Feel free to email me-I’m retired and could easily do a couple days a week for a very small fee.

DianeParticipantHi Kristin_S,
~
Thanks for your post on our local wsblog forum, reaching out to us local child care providers; much appreciated
~
I’ve been working with West Seattle families with infants/toddlers/prek for 13+ years, and I specialize in helping families with unexpected situations like yours, where I’ve also helped support the mom post-surgery
~
After many years as full time nanny, I now only do on-call/temp/emergency/last minute and date night babysitting; since I specialize in infants/toddlers (and they grow so fast), always open to new families; I have detailed resume and extensive list of reference letters; please contact me at divincent@aol.com for my intro letter/resume and refs; look forward to hearing from you; thanks, Diane

fyi, side note; you will never find me on care.com, (or sittercity, urbansitter; all exact same concept) which is akin to Amazon vs local shops; and they violate many fair employment laws; I wish people who care about community would reconsider using these highly financed/lawyered up high-tech profit machines; and please do like Kristin just did; shop local for nanny/babysitter/child care; we are right here in your community and look forward to hearing from you directly via this wonderful forum; and posting here also shows support for westseattleblog; thank you!!!
~
ps; I check this westseattleblog forum almost daily for child care requests; thank you to all the families who post here; I am incredibly grateful for all the wonderful families I’ve met via this forum over the years, and look forward to meeting more of you, and your kiddos
~
and thank you again to westseattleblog for providing us with this wonderful community resource; this forum; for free

I am actually looking for mostly an afterschool position with anyone in need. However, if you are in a bind I am more than happy to help. I’m wishing you the best for a speedy recovery
If you need me to stop by the store for you, at no charge, let me know. I’m happy to help neighbors
