   Hello all. I am new to the Seattle area and like many other Americans, going day by day without Health insurance.

   I spent 3 months this past summer working with a volunteer group in Nicaragua. Since I have been back, my body has not felt right.

   I have went to a few clinics in the area...I have spent near to $1000 with no answers. One place charged me $150 after telling me it was just IBS and to take pepcid. I even went so far to go to Urgent care without any answers.
   I am a hardworking, generally healthy man. I eat well, bike 12 miles a day to the downtown area and really try to take care of myself.

   I can't afford to keep doing this. I need to find a place that can provide me with adequate care. I have some money. I just don't have a lot. I need to get more tests done and thats the expensive part...

   If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. I just want to figure out what is wrong with me!

   UW Hall Health Travel Clinic is open to both students and the general public:

   but they note on their page that if it's been more than 3 months, you should call the Infectious Disease Specialty Clinic at UW Medical Center: 206-598-4615 or at Harborview: 206-731-5100. They'll need a referral from your current or recent doctor. That UWMC phone number is for the UW Tropical Medicine clinic listed above.

   Country Doctor Community Clinic on Capitol Hill at 19th and Republican has excellent care, and a sliding scale. You really can't go wrong there. They have their own lab, and pharmacy. I believe their prescriptions run about 8 bucks apiece. I've been going there for 8 years. I got a breast cancer screening for free through them (yes, had breast cancer), and I can't say enough for the caring docs there. I see Dr. Hal Moore..he's personable, thorough, all around good guy. But everyone there is very caring.

   I would also recommend Country Doctor, make an appointment soon as they fill up very fast I've had to wait months. I needed semi-urgent care earlier this week and ended up at My Family Doctor here in west seattle and had a great experience. They were fast, friendly, affordable, and you don't need insurance or an appointment.

   Not your typical health clinic, but I have an alternative wellness center and practice a form of energy work called Health Kinesiology. Using muscle testing, we can work to determine what is out of balance with your body and how best to correct that, be it directing you to a particular type of medical specialist, energy work corrections (based on acupressure), etc. An interview article was published this month in Seattle Natural Awakenings about my work for more detailed info, or click on my name above for my website.    If you want good Chinese medicine, I highly recommend Dr. Pang in Federal Way.

   He's helped me in many ways where the regular western docs haven't. You drink mud water, but it cures what's ailing you. No appointment necessary. Will cost you anywhere from $50 - $90 for the herbs and they will cook them for you.
