I was walking north across the street from Me-Kwa-Mooks Park when 4 bright orange lights shot over the tip of Alki point. They were low, fast and traveling in a line. I watched them to see where they were going. They appeared to be heading in South towards me. Right about the time that they were in front of Me-Kwa-Mooks Park
They disapeared as if extinguished. There were a couple of people on a park bench who had actually seen them as they were driving and they went to the park to watch them. They said that they had seen at least 10 of them. We watched 3 more shoot over the hill and fly towards us and then just disapear..poof!! Any ideas? We were assuming jets but the disappearing part just made us look at each other in disbelief.

I remember this happening a year or two ago, so did a quick search on the term "strange lights"; here's one of the items it turned up.

The "strange orange lights" were indeed Chinese Lanterns. I know because they were sent off right in front of our house on Beach Drive. I didn't talk to the people who sent them off to find out why, but we watched them as they disappeared into the night sky. Sure was a pretty sight. :)
