SueParticipantAre there any laundromats in West Seattle other than the one across from Admiral Theater? I have a comforter to wash that’s too big for my tiny apartment washer, and I wasn’t very impressed with that laundromat the last time. Thanks!

miwsParticipantI was going to suggest Olympic Heights Laundry, on 35th, because that at least used to be owned by Paul, of PB&J Textiles, and although I don’t know him, and haven’t used the facility, I would trust it would be well run.
Anyway, I Googled it, and according to a Yelp result, it’s “Closed”.
BUT, remember a few years back; they were claiming the same thing about Meander’s, which was total B.S.
Wish I could help, Sue. There used to be LOTS of laundromats in the area, but no more.
Other than Admiral, there’s a few in White Center.
When I was at NV, I used the one in the 9800 block of 15th, in the same block as Samway Market, the donut shop, and behind-ish Marv’s Broiler. It is apparently owned by the same folks that run the one across from Bartell’s White Center, and has all front load washers, rather than the top-loaders at the one across from Bartell’s.
It was okay, seemed to have a few, but not a lot of machines broken on a regular basis, so maybe fairly typical in that regard, and it seems they were piecemeal replacing machines, maybe as they could afford.
In any case, good luck!

SueParticipantThanks, Mike! I think there’s one further down on 35th (like around CafĂ© Osira or something like that), but don’t recall exactly where or the name to look it up and even find hours they’re open (and if it actually exists). When I took the comforter last time to the Admiral one, it came out of the washing machine totally covered in white animal hair. My cat is black, so it wasn’t my animal. It kinda grossed me out. Might’ve been a one-off thing. Now if only I could get my cat to stop puking on this bedspread so I wouldn’t have to keep taking it to the Laundromat … there’s only so far spot cleaning will get ya. :)

datamuseParticipantIt’s not a laundromat, but we’ve taken our comforter to West Seattle Cleaners on Fauntleroy and been pleased with the results. It’ll be more expensive, though.

MParticipantHello there… My husband uses the one on 35th across from red star pizza.
April 8, 2014 at 4:30 pm #806644
MParticipantThere is also one on 35th across from the walgreens or by the u haul . Sorry I don’t know exactly the cross streets for my 2 posts. Hope this helps

miwsParticipantMel, Sounds like the one across from Red Star may be the Olympic Heights one I was talking about, so Yelp may have been wrong (no surprise) regarding it being closed?
Also, the one across from Walgreen’s/down from U-Haul IS gone, I’m almost certain. I was in that one on a few occasions years ago, it recall it being decent.

MrsLMemberThe laundromat that was across from Walgreen’s is now Fast Signs. Good to know if the one across from Red Star is still around. That’s probably the closest one to us.

miwsParticipantAh That’s right! I thought I had at least seen the one across from Walgreen’s vacant, if not having a new tenant, and of course we read about Fastsigns moving in right here on WSB a few weeks back!
Good to hear about the one across from Red Star.

PatrickKeymasterOur extra super efficient washer sends me to the laundromat a few times a year to do some larger items. Fast Signs, which is just up from the car wash and Enterprise Rentals used to be the Maytag Wash. The Olympic is next to Cafe Osita and has both regular and jumbo washers, the lingering aroma of fabric softener, and stray copies of old magazines which is to say it’s everything you want in a laundromat.
BTW – Paul and Ave have not owned the Olympic in several years.

GinaParticipantA hint from my days of serial hair ball cats. A flannel sheet on top is cozy for kitty and catches solids and is easy to launder.

BreezyParticipantI have used the one on 35th next to Cafe Osita. All went well and I had a delicious cup of coffee and chat with the Cafe owner while my wash was running.
