I heard it above us, saw it exit the cloud deck at 800-1000 feet and pivot to the N over Alki. That was a tad close...hope he wasn't having trouble. I am at 200 feet and could easily see the wingspan as it went by...

Our fearless & ever thorough WSB reporters ... do you happen to have any information on why the plane was flying so low? My son and I were outside and he thought the plane was going to crash ... I didn't tell him this but ... I thought it was going to too. Thank goodness I was wrong! Nonetheless ... it was quite eerie how low it was flying.

Nope. Was offline at the time, though since we're in the south end, we wouldn't have heard/seen it ourselves anyway. Any hint of what type of plane would help if I can find someone w/whom to inquire tomorrow ... TR

I am going to sound dumber than a rock but ... it looked like a commercial plane. I just saw the belly of the plane and it appeared to be whitish in color.

I saw it too! At first I heard it, so eerie, sounded like a high pitch whine. Then saw the plane way too low turn and head north in the fog.
I was staying at a house on the hill between Orleans and Admiral without a computer, and have never seen or heard one that big that close.
Brought to mind the plane in Speilbergs war of the worlds.

Yup, heard it, didn't see it. Figured from the sound that it was a cargo jet taking the turn too tight and low for Boeing Field. Glad to hear that something bad didn't occur.

yep, heard it , too, thought it sounded odd at the time, then it just went away...

The weird thing was the jet was crossing east to west before banking over to the north. At that height I would have guessed Boeing field, but a pretty big "opps" if that is where it was going. I guessed at 1000 feet in altitude but it wasn't much higher -- I heard the whine that ensignmarvin mentioned easily through my double-pane windows.
