Lake Nickelsville

  1. All of the melting snow means water is backing up at Nickelsville . this morning you couldn't get to the back of the camp without wading. in some places the water is already nearly a foot deep .

we got a 3/4 horsepower electric commercial grade pump down there with 100 ft of 2" hose and filled the generator and it is pumping away but best guess is that it will not be enough.

does anyone have a bigger pump we could use? gas would be ok.

  2. Thanks for posting this, JoB.

I've been worried about this very thing, especially after visiting Tuesday, and seeing the results of the thaw of last Sunday's snow, that was much less than what happened Tues/Wed.

Was worried even more, when it seemed like the weather forecasts were calling for heavy rains after the thaw.

Then, of course, there's the wind....

  3. Miws..

the first pump we took down failed. By the time we got the replacement pump running things looked pretty dire.

but.. the rain held off today and the second pump is keeping up with the snow melt...

the bigger problem is that the containment ponds up stream from Nickelsville are rapidly filling so Nickelsville will begin getting the overflow soon.

this is why we could use another pump.

  5. velo_nut...

if it was that easy i would
at the very least i would move them out of a pond to some place that has electricity

city council/mayors office says the wheels of politics grind slowly..
they project another couple of years to resolve the roadblocks

  6. so far so good.
it is raining again but when i was in camp about an hour ago, the paths were not underwater. they will be running the pump again tonight thanks to those who have made an effort to make sure that they had gas for the generators.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a dry day and then rain every day. Like they really need that down there. No chance to dry out even a little.
