A few weeks ago, I contaced Burien Bark regarding the limited gravel and wood chips that Nickelsville was experiencing. Within a couple of days, Jeff of Burien Bark delivered 8 yards of one and 10 yards of the other to the camp. I later contacted him about whether any of his contacts knew who had firewood...Jeff went to his contacts, rounded up some firewood and used his own trucks to deliver it to Nickelsville. I have used them for 10 years and they are a wonderful family operated company with great standards !! Please use them if you need any of their products !

    :)
So who is the firewood supplier. Maybe we could pitch in and buy and have a cord delivered when this bunch runs out?

Hi, Ken. I have asked Jeff about that, but may not hear back for a while. Also, when things were getting bleak, I contacted this company:

'Reliable Firewood' at 425-861-8409 here is a link to the website....

His prices seeem very good and I think it is great that you can fill up your SUV or truck and buy what you can afford. Based on my calculations of what 1/5 of a cord would cost, he is a couple hundred dollars under what a full cord typically costs these days. . His name is Jan (pronounced with a Y for Yan) will post what I hear back from Jeff. Thanks, Ken!

  6. The one that I used (delivered last week) was BLW Firewood in Burien. He mentioned a few other people had bought from him for Nickelsville, as well. Nice guy and was willing to deliver and let me drop by with a check the next day. (He doesn't take credit cards.)

We have a bunch of fire wood and are planning in getting down there today. As a local fence company, we aways have decent scrap wood that we dont want to go to waste. I know a few other fence companies used to have bins just inside their yards for people to come take scrap wood. This was years ago but they still might do it. I will get a hold of them tomorrow.. they are Alpine Fence and All City fence. They are in the area as well.. it's a shame for all that wood to go to waste.. if that's what they do with it.

  9. frogger,

they can only burn untreated waste wood..

there are too many people in camp with breathing problems from breathing the woodsmoke from untreated wood.
we don't want to add to it by delivering treated wood because it makes people more susceptible to pneumonia.. not to mention asthma..

that said.. they can use treated fence scraps to floor pallets..

as long as they are separated, both could be useful at Nickelsville.

I know all we use as well as those other fence companies is cedar. Not pressure treated wood at all. I'll see what they say in the am when I call them.

Ken...and all...just to report back that Jeff at Burien Bark had a friend offer the rest of the wood he had ...so it was donated wood that Jeff was willing to pick up and deliver. And...Jeff has said that if anyone has wood and can't deliver, we can contact him and he'll find a way. Great guy!

Wow, that's really wonderful. We've had really good experiences with Burien Bark in the past - this will keep us going back there.
