   \"A Reader\" is curious to know if any other parents have some birthday party ideas/locations in/around West Seattle which don\'t cost a small fortune.

   We\'re beginning to plan our daughter\'s 2nd birthday party in June and expect to have approximately 30 guests including adults and children infant through aged 7 years.

   Our home is just too small to accomodate a crowd. I\'ve researched Alki Beach and Camp Long...but am also looking for some other locations where we can bring in catered food/punch/adult beverages and cake/cupcakes for the kids.

   Indoor or outdoor is fine. A moonbounce/clown might be okay as well. Just beginning to explore options and want to get my reservations in order now.

   Why don\'t you have a get-together at a park? Like a picnic? That wouldn\'t cost anything.

   You can reserve a picnic shelter at Lincoln Park -just go to the Parks & Rec website for the info. It\'s a small fee but you are guaranteed the spot. You can bring a moonbounce type of thing, too - I\'ve seen lots of kid parties at the shelter near the south end playground. The only problem might be the \"adult beverages\" - I don\'t think you\'re allowed to bring alcohol into the parks, but maybe if you arrange for a special license it is OK? Something to check out.

   Hiawatha Community Center will rent the upstairs room and the gym for a reasonable fee. I think the upstairs room is nice because the kids have a lot of room to run around but it is not as expensive to rent as the gym.

   If you haven\'t ruled out Camp Long after your research, we\'d give it an anecdotal thumbs-up. It was the site of the only big kid party we\'ve ever had. Although the age of the crowd you\'re dealing with might be a tiny bit too young to appreciate the option of naturalist-led walks during the party ... Also, have you looked into any possibilities at The Hall @ Fauntleroy? We\'ve been there a number of times now and they have smallish rooms as well as big.

   The West Seattle YMCA offers a great package, use the family room for the party and the kids gym for all the jumping and running around, totally supervised by a YMCA staff member.

   How about Kenyon Hall? I know it is reservable for private parties. Not sure about the adult beverages question though. I know there are none there during the intermissions of regular performances... which is fine with me. There\'s a small kitchen too; and plenty of street parking. Lou Magor is great with kids too. He teaches kindermusic there and may be available for a few extra dollars.

   Colman Pool is available to rent for private parties. Someday I want to host one there myself!

    Camp Long also has picnic shelters and that wonderful meadow and ponds close by. But I think the adult beverage thing will be a problem most places. Do you have a friend with a bigger home/yard who could help? Another thought is C&P Coffee -- I think they might rent out the place for parties and I know they can have alcohol there.

    We did Coleman pool for a birthday party. Fun! You can also rent out Southwest Pool if you want indoors. the only problem with Coleman is that you can\'t rent it until 7pm and it starts to get cold.

    I agree with all the other suggestions. Camp Long is great. You could do a bbq. fun!

    For indoors the YMCA is good too.

    Curious KidStuff in the Junction has a little artist studio that you can book for birthday parties, and the kids get to paint and do crafts and then have cake! We have done it twice and it was a blast, a little pricey, but if you consider all the cleanup and preperation that you wouldn\'t have to do, I thought it was well worth it!

    The parks - any of them - would be good. I think you can get a permit for adult beverages. Also, any of the halls - Alki Masonic, Hiland Park Improvement, VFW, etc.
