  5. This animated radar page shows snow in blue, mixed in pink and rain in green.

When it showed snow passing briefly over head here in Highpoint, All I found were scattered lentil sized lumps of sleet or something like it.

My original post was probably at the 1st flake. Being from Detroit, Yes, I get that excited. It was such a cool moment. Thought I saw something.....my daughter and I ran outside to see some flakes falling. But the BEST part was hearing all the kids around the neighborhood screaming, "IT'S SNOWING! Yeaaaahhhhh!!! Woooohoooo!" But now it's 4am on Monday and it's been snowing for atleast 20 minutes. Our yard is already white. The dog was a bit confused.....it's his 1st snow. :)

bsmomma, another refugee from Detroit here! It's been 30 years since I left, but snow is still the one thing I miss.

We came out in 83. Besides my fam, the Cold Snowy Winters and Hot Summers are what I miss......well and Faygo and White Castle. But you can get those in the freezer section and Faygo at Zippys! Have you heard about the Fayco Cupcakes?! Just got the recipe.....I'm going to need to whip some of those bad boys up soon! :) Yahooooo Snooooow!

OMG, bsmomma!!! I was so excited to see Faygo at Zippy's. They told me they'd been trying to get Rock n' Rye, but so far no luck. Speaking of Zippy's, I always point out the 'Big Boy' memorabilia to locals; remember the strawberry pie?

I came out in '85 after living in Ann Arbor for some time. Do you remember the Rationals? I was married to the bass player...

"Yous" guys really got me going now. Is it just a coincidence that it's the Michiganders excited about the prospect of snow? I just found this link to classic Detroit pop culture; so many memories.

And I have a few jars of the Saunders sauce stock piled. I also miss the Polish restaurants and bakeries. P.S. we got snow before MI! My cousin in Livonia is sooooo jealous!

As a kid I used to go to the Sanders lunch counter all the time and get a "hot fudge cream puff" (which was a profiterole). I miss getting a bag of cannoli with take-out pizza from a real Italian grocery & bakery. I've yet to find a good cannoli in Seattle. Can't say there's a lot to praise about Detroit - but it did have character, that's for sure. We should start a new thread for Michigan transplants...!

I had to send a link to this thread to my partner who's also from MI, he had a Faygo convo w/another Michigan person last weekend.

Try the Cucina de Santis in Sodo for cannolis, he imports the ingredients from Mike's in Boston.

  20. WS Blog may want to look for a new trusted weather forecaster. Yesterday, he was sure the whole mess would leave Seattle with no snow, but who did get this right?(lol)

Meanwhile, where did I put that dang snow shovel?
