Anybody successfully preorder your 4G iPhone? I am not actually sure. I got an error message and a message confirming my in-store pick-up. Just wondering what the other iPhone freaks are doing. :)

Also, what are you doing with your old phone?

    I"m so excited!!!

I'm not exactly an iphone freak, as I think I've established time and time again around here, if you recall :P.

But I've grown completely dependent upon this thang. However, I sure wish I had been paying better attention three months ago when I FINALLY upgraded from the 1st gen to the 3g with a new contract. FRUSTRATING! Oh well! The new speed and reliability was a bit of a joyous revelation, I must say.

I am happy to report, I think, that somebody is coming by tomorrow, supposedly, (from a Craigslist ad I posted last night) to buy my old one. I'm afraid to ask how much I SHOULD have asked for as a minimum - it's perfect, not even a scratch and 8g. Regardless, I could not believe how many replies I got to the ad. I felt so very popular there for a few brief hours. The luster of those moments were lost as soon as the guy I agreed to sell it to got my ph #. He's agreed to meet me tomorrow night, but is texting me every couple hours this afternoon. Somehow, I don't think he believes I'm not a girl thug trying to sell stolen goods or about to be incarcerated. LOL. Seriously.

Before the handoff, I need to figure out how to take the sim card out. That oughta' be interesting, amusing or pathetic - we'll see. :)

I can't even imagine how fast the 4g will be. Too cool. What else is new about it, besides that it's skinnier, right?

Also, what other options are there for folks besides Craigslist to get rid of their old phones? That's indeed a good topic for discussion, I would say.

  3. I've sold phones successfully through Ebay and I'd recommend it over CL.
Sim card comes out easily: use a paper clip, hook it into the hole at the top and the little aluminum tray pops out.

Hey 'Dood, FTR, you can trade in your 3G for a rebate sort of thing on a 4G! Might be through Radio Shack or ATT.

I am crazy excited for the 4G model as my current model doesn't do video. I am also really pumped for the camera with the new Hipstamatic app. that should be coming out soon. Also the text reader function will be nice on Evernote. Woohoo!

I've been trying to order all day but cannot get through. The Apple part of the system is fine. It is AT&T that has botched the launch yet again.

Planning to sell my old 3G on eBay. International buyers will pay top dollar.

  7. I might be interested in buying one of the older ones. Got to look more into unlocking it though

  8. I was just able to complete my order. But I'm told that they sold out of the first week's allotment. My estimated ship date is July 2.

I got lucky and got through, but not until late afternoon, after trying all day! I got through on the Apple website if that helps and I also chose to pick it up in store-- may as well camp out. :)

Does anyone know when the white iphone will be ready for order? I have heard "later this summer" but am curious as to what that means. I really want the new phone but would prefer white.

Me and my Husband waited in line at At&t for well over and hour... by the time our name was called their system was down so they just wrote our info on a paper and said they would process it later... we called later that night at it still hadn't been processed so we have no idea when we are getting ours :-(

    bdg,

I heard they are going to be available right away at Radioshack. Basically, you can't preorder them but that they will be there on opening day. No idea if that's true but you might want to check it out.

I managed to preorder on the 15th. I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival on my doorstep tomorrow!

  17. I'm with mrhineh - holding out for Verizon to get one; I've been with them (or whatever their predecessor may have been) since 1995, so no plans of jumping ship anytime soon. Not even for an iPhone. Not holding my breath for anytime soon though.

Now I've heard everything. Oil spills are debacles. Trouble with getting your Iphone addicted hands on the latest gadget from Apple... not a debacle.

  22. If you don't mind a little off-colored language, here's a hysterical video about someone who needs an iPhone NOW.

    Apple versus AT&T -
Well I now know who is the bad egg/apple. When I could not get through to AT&T on the date they started accepting orders, I went through Apple and pre-ordered. I was emailed a confirmation saying my phone would arrive July 19th (I pre-ordered on June 16th). Last week I was talking to the AT&T store and they said that people who had ordered the day before had recieved their phones the next day (2.5 weeks after I had ordered through Apple). Needless to say I was not happy -- my current Blackberry only holds a charge for 3 hours.... so a new phone is needed (why pay $50 for a new battery on a 2 yr old phone).
Last Friday (less than a week ago) I placed an order with AT&T -- and guess what -- my phone arrives tomorrow -(I have the FedEx tracking number).... Apple sez my phone through them is still back ordered....
Seems to me that Apple is the problem and NOT AT&T.

That's interesting. When I was in line, I heard the exact opposite from people who were going in to ATT stores and getting the runaround but were able to get it through Apple. Clearly they weren't ready for it!! The glue was still drying, lol. I LOVE my phone thought. It's everything I wanted and more. What a beautiful exemplar of what is technologically possible. I just wish you didn't need wi-fi to do Facetime.
