   Looking for input on internet providers for California / Findlay area.

   I have had Clear internet for a few years and have had it up to here with the slow connection speeds, freezing up, feels like I'm using dial-up circa 1995.

   I had Comcast for about a year or so, which wasn't any improvement over Clear. In fact, it was worse, because if the internet was down, so was the cable.

   What has been your experience with other internet providers? Any suggestions? I know it's limited, which boggles the mind considering we live in a high-tech town and can't even get decent internet connections. (sigh).

   Just tested my connection at speedtest.net ....55 mbps for download and .05 for uploads.

   I'm pretty sure that your choices are Xfinity/Comcast and Century Link....anyone know of any others?

   We have had Comcast for over a dozen years. They are not cheap, but they are FAST, and probably MORE reliable than any other provider out there.
   .
   And for just slightly more, you can go with Comcast Business Class service. More speed, and much more responsive tech support.
   .
   IMO, they are really the only game in town right now.

   Thanks for the suggestions. I never thought of looking into Xfinity / Comcast Business Class for my home use.

   I use Virgin Mobile for my cell phone and I have been pretty happy with them. They use Sprint's network (?) Maybe getting a HotSpot device is something worth looking into too. Does anyone have experience with that?

   I am nowhere near a tech expert, but I looked into the hotspot thing thru Costco (Verizon?)and the thing you have to look out for is that they charge for the size of what you download....so downloading a video can be really expensive....

   We have had Comcast for the last two years and have had nothing but problems. I know we are most likely not the norm, but I am not at all impressed. We have to reset the modem daily (and we have switched modems multiple times), our internet drops frequently, and customer service has not been helpful at all. For $80 a month this was just too much to put up with. We just switched to Century Link but it won't be turned on until tomorrow.

   I agree that Clear internet is slow. We got a big price break so we put up with it hoping they get faster in the future.

    We've had CenturyLink for the last month - just arrived here in Seattle - and have had no problems with it. Multiple users, including desktop, several laptops, and a BluRay player that streams the Internet. Good customer service, too.

    Just about had it with Clearwire too. Unless I am on California Ave in the Morgan junction, it doesnt work. I literally could have DRAWN the webpages faster than it was working today.

    Aww. :) Guido says hi. He is now involved in swimming classes but continues to practice his tricks.

    Back to the internet topic. After our frustration with comcast we considered switching to clear. We tried to walk into the store in Westwood 5 minutes before they close. The man in there was SO rude and engrossed in his tv watching that he wouldn't even look up at us. He just yelled "Closed, Closed!" I am glad this happened now after reading such negative feedback about their internet service.
