happywalkerParticipantWhat the heck is wrong with the GOP. With all that is going on here in the U.S. and the World, is the powers that be stirring up an impeachment of President Obama? What a waste of time, money, space and our brains to try this maneuver now. Huge waste our money and morale. Just give it up and focus on more important issues of the day. Give Peace a Chance

JayDeeParticipantThe Republicans should get a life, and find some real candidates that independents can vote for. And like a teenager driving hell bent for leather down a demographic dead end, they need to do more than appeal to old white people before their party is like the old Whig party…extinct.
–
Because President Joe Biden will be so much better than President Obama…?!?
July 27, 2014 at 6:01 pm #811401
HMC RichParticipantThis OLD WHITE GUY scoffs at your insinuation. Obama will not have impeachment proceedings started. This is a ploy to get the Democratic base to show up in the midterms.
Now, if there is a concrete link between the IRS and the White House, there will be hell to pay. And since Biden would resign like Obama, Boehner (God Help US) would be President.
Happywalker, are you happy with the Peace I am seeing around the world?
July 27, 2014 at 6:31 pm #811402
dobroParticipant“Obama will not have impeachment proceedings started. This is a ploy to get the Democratic base to show up in the midterms.”
Obama cannot begin impeachment proceedings against himself. The Republican House has to do that and since they’re the ones that are insinuating it might happen I would find it odd that Repubs are trying to fire up the Dem base.
“Now, if there is a concrete link between the IRS and the White House, there will be hell to pay. And since Biden would resign like Obama, Boehner (God Help US) would be President.”
Now there’s a Republican fantasy. Obama will be serving out his entire term, I’m afraid and after that you should get used to hearing the words President Clinton.
July 27, 2014 at 6:46 pm #811403
SmittyParticipantI agree with Rich (surprise!) that Obama would actually welcome this. It would rally the base for midterms.
If I were him I would push the envelope on every law possible to goat them into it.
July 27, 2014 at 6:51 pm #811404
dobroParticipantDo you fellas really think the Republicans are that stupid? (I won’t offer my opinion on that!)
July 27, 2014 at 8:37 pm #811405
JoBParticipanthmmm…
there’s an election ploy for you
impeach yourself to rally the base..
somehow fellas…. it just doesn’t play
July 27, 2014 at 10:47 pm #811406
happywalkerParticipantThat’s my point Mr. Rich, give peace a chance is a worldwide plea. Obviously there is so much turmoil happening around the world now (seems like more now than ever…,), why throw a time and $$ sucker like impeachment into it. It ain’t gonna a happen anyway. Why add to the chaos. Visualize world peace for now.
July 27, 2014 at 10:53 pm #811407
happywalkerParticipantI meant visualize world peace for real.

metrognomeParticipantcan you say, ‘It’s the anniversary of Nixon’s near impeachment and his resignation in disgrace.’ And don’t forget Spiro T. Agnew.
The GOP focus on the lawsuit and impeachment is another ‘Oh look, a chicken!’ attempt at distraction from their inability to accomplish anything. They’re just doing whatever ridiculous cr*p they can to ‘inflame’ their base so they can take over the Senate (even if they do, they won’t have a veto-proof majority.) All they are really doing is peeving a ton of swing voters.
On the plus side, donations are rolling in to the Dems.
July 29, 2014 at 2:33 pm #811409
miwsParticipant…..attempt at distraction from their inability to accomplish anything.
Is that “inability”, or “unwillingness”?

wakefloodParticipantAll one needs to do to grasp how truly and deeply effed up our governance is, is to realize that a party that is at RECORD LOWS of self-identification and represents less than a quarter of the populace, has rigged the system to maintain a solid majority of our House and a near 50/50 split in our Senate and as a distinct minority, can literally stop the country dead in its tracks. Indeed, it can actually drag it backward.
Think the Founding Fathers would observe this mess with anything but incredulous headshaking and abject derision?
The Right cares deeply about one thing, and one thing only. Maintaining the oligarchy they have diligently created. The general populace are merely pawns to be strip mined and then alternately ignored, whipped into false frenzies or pandered to.
To paraphrase Dean Wormer: “Unempowered, ignorant and Republican is no way to go through life, son.”
July 29, 2014 at 4:43 pm #811411
skeeterParticipantRe: Post #12 – I generally vote Republican so now I’m wondering if I’m part of the oligarchy or part of the general populace? And if part of the general populace, I wonder if I’m being ignored, whipped into false frenzy, or pandered to?
Wakeflood, I simply love your contributions to this forum. I really, really do.
July 29, 2014 at 5:35 pm #811412
wakefloodParticipantSkeets…you need only answer the following question to determine your position.
A) Do you get personal invites from GOP politicians to “share your thoughts” before/during/after handing them a very large check? (And by personal, I don’t mean an email. And by very large, I mean VERY LARGE.) :-)
If you answer no, then, like the rest of us, you’re in the general populace and the answer to your second question is…all of the above.
:-)
Which is to say, just because I’m skeptical and try very hard to be wary of propaganda and marketing manipulation, doesn’t mean I’m immune to it. We humans is pretty Pavlovian.
July 29, 2014 at 5:44 pm #811413
wakefloodParticipantAnd Skeets, you know that I know that you’re a sharp guy. I’ve no doubt that you think for yourself and have logical reasons for your construct of how the world works and how you can best participate in its orderly functioning.
Which is why I suspect that while you generally vote GOP, you have to look around at many parts of this country, see the shenanigans that passes for “modern conservatism” today and find it sorely lacking. Both in solutions to our problems as well as using sound reasoning to govern ourselves.
If I’m wrong, a thousand pardons.
July 29, 2014 at 7:05 pm #811414
HMC RichParticipantBecause the Dems on the Sunday Talk Shows were talking about impeachment the DNC raised about One Million dollars next day. It is a lefty ploy.
John Boehner explicitly stated today there would not be impeachment proceedings initiated by the house. Most likely the midterms will elect more Republicans than Democrats and why would the right want to help out the left? They won’t.
The President should not be made a victim which is what the left is trying to do. By doing this the Democrats will and have leveled charges that the Republicans are racist when we know one of the major ploys by the Democrats have is to charge others with racism or sexism.
BTW a conservative does not care what race you are. We believe in what MLK said. We believe what he said in his DREAM Speech.
To paraphrase THEY WILL NOT BE JUDGED BY THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN, BUT BY THE CONTENT OF THEIR CHARACTER.
This talk of impeachment is a Democrat talking point to rally the base because all this President can do is play Golf, Make donor speeches, and blame the Republicans for almost everything. Sure, there are people on the right talking about it but it will not happen.
This is politics as usual and victimization by the left. Alinsky would be proud again.

HMC RichParticipantSkeets and Wake. Since I am a registered Republican, I do get surveys once in awhile from the RNC.
If you are not registered then the only input you have would come from related political groups that probably have a lobbying firm representing them that you have given to or at least given your email to them.
I did get a pamphlet from either Fitzgibbons or McDermot (not Jim) about the past year. I found it highly informative. He crowed about the progress made in Olympia with the legislation that he passed and gave himself a big pat on the back. Legislation that did not pass he directly blamed the failure on the Republicans. Funny thing is that he did not give Republicans ANY credit for helping him pass his legislation. Nor would I expect it really, but to point out that the Republicans blocked him was just playing to the fine Democrats in the 34th District.
July 29, 2014 at 7:34 pm #811416
wakefloodParticipantRich, if you think that survey has anything to do with the agenda the GOP ACTUALLY PURSUES on a Federal level, then I suggest you’re not observing reality.
The agenda’s (for both parties) are set by a select few businessmen and “thought leaders” of each party. Everything else you or I participate in for input is primarily window dressing, carefully crafted to give the impression they want your ideas. They want your money.
What they’re sure to get from these “inputs” are for you to tell them your hot buttons they can easily push when the time is right to get you to do what?…preferably cut the check of course. Or failing that, maybe you’ll stand up and yell something at a local meeting and go viral on youtube. I mean, if that’s all you got, they’ll take it.
I get that my take sounds over the top cynical, but if you can refute it, take a whack. I’ve got examples up the yin yang from my side of the aisle – and we’re amateurs compared to yours, Mr. Rich. ;-)
July 29, 2014 at 7:39 pm #811417
skeeterParticipantYes, I’ll agree that my party has lost its way. Probably the clearest example was the failed legislation for background checks on firearms. I have no explanation why the Repubs opposed this legislation. It kinda broke my heart really.
July 29, 2014 at 7:43 pm #811418
wakefloodParticipantAnd to back up my words with actions, I’m all about figuring out how to get $ out of the equation. Public financing of elections, etc. ANYTHING to change the dynamic that’s killing us now.
I am proudly pimping Mayday.us. They’ve selected two of the five candidates they’re supporting who have committed to changing the system if they get elected. One is a R and one is a D so far.
I humbly ask each and every one of you who feels the system is broken to consider putting some energy toward this organization. I’m truly at a loss for any other way to make change happen in my lifetime. Maybe you are too?
July 29, 2014 at 8:03 pm #811419
wakefloodParticipantSkeets, I feel you on the background check thing. I thought the GOP had finally pushed the radicals to the side and were going to do the right thing. It was right there for the taking, literally a day away from making it happen.
And then they turned around and pulled the rug out from under all those folks – and in some cases, branded them as unfit for future support.
Now even more of them will get primaried by radicals, making it even harder the next time around.
What’s it gonna’ take?
July 30, 2014 at 4:34 pm #811420
wakefloodParticipantHey Rich, Skeets, et al, I’d like to know what you think about an article I read a while back but just thought of again recently.
It’s about vote-rigging. If you have the time to read it, I’d be interested if you think it’s just innuendo and sour grapes or is there something there?
Every time I think about it, I remember watching Rove squirming on election night 2012 asking for more time before calling Ohio. Why would he think that would make a difference?…

July 30, 2014 at 10:06 pm #811421
skeeterParticipantThanks Wake. I only had time to skim the article. Pretty busy today. Interesting and scary stuff.
July 30, 2014 at 10:59 pm #811422
waynsterParticipantGive me a break impeachment please…..every time the party in charge of the house don’t like the president lets impeach him ok…. what a waste of time and money…..they need to pass the bills in front of them…. oh now its lets sue the president as if we got nothing better to do now…
breaking news…..

July 30, 2014 at 11:07 pm #811423
happywalkerParticipantThat’s my point Wayn…just a huge waste of our brains bandwith, time and money. We know it won’t happen so why even muck up th works with the insanity. Just deal with the IMPORTANT issues facing our Nation. Such foolishness.
