If you're going to ski back-country, at least be smart about it!!!

  1. Skiing back-country (b/c) is not just about skiing out-of-bounds, it's about getting away from the resorts, the crowds, the groomed runs and the limited fun.

Whenever I'm skiing where there is a remote possibility of an avalanche I'm always wearing an air-bag.

    You should too!!!

    What's your life worth?!

  2. This video was apparently made by the product manufacturer, but the science on it looks pretty simple: in an avalanche, airbags raise "buoyancy" and push skiers to the top of the snow.

In an avalanche that comes from behind and knocks you down, you might not get the chance to inflate the bag, but it seems like your survival chances would still be improved by wearing one. Therefore, these should be mandatory equipment for anyone going off-trail.
