I would like some Holly

    I would like a little Holly for Christmas. I live in an apartment in West Seattle and I miss the big Holly tree of my youth. I don't want much. I will cut it.

    The Christmas tree lot at the Charlestown Cafe site had holly for the taking - last weekend they did at least.

    If they don't have it, you can find it growing wild in the greenbelts around here. It's invasive so cutting it is really doing a service.

    There are some nice folks on 100th and 39th Ave SW that put out a sign each year offering free holly.

    Please, take whatever holly you like from the greenbelts, Lincoln, Schmitt, Fauntleroy Parks, etc. The volunteers in those parks spend time perpetually removing it. Just be sure to dispose of it in your yard waste container when the holidays are over, especially if it contains berries.

    I have cut down two holly trees and have one left that is in the front yard. Email me and you can have all you can carry.
