. . . .from now on WSB stands for West Seattle Blog. It does not stand for West Seattle Bridge. It also does not stand for West Seattle Bloggers or otherwise imply that the WSB and the people that post in comments sections are one in the same (unless the post is submitted by WSB). Who's with me on this?

I for one "Second that Emotion"
Thanks Smokey for the use of your line.Shall we refer to the West Seattle Bridge as the bridge, and then identify any other bridges that may be discussed?

>>Who's with me on this?
Who's with you on what, dude? The elephant?
—Sure I'm with you. But only if you move over and let someone else ride in front for a change.

Yep, the Bridge, (although there may be cornfusion with the bar of the same name), and the Bowling Alley.
Those are the two other "WSB''s that always come to mind.

So, WSB can no longer mean "We're So Bitchy"?
Posted 4 months ago # -
It drives me nuts when people refer to those who comment on West Seattle Blog as "West Seattle Bloggers" (or just "bloggers"). Commenting on a blog does not make one a blogger.
Posted 4 months ago # -
Instead of We're so Bitchy how about " Why so Bitchy " ?

You think the weather is getting to people in general?
Posted 4 months ago # -
People were using WSB to refer to things other than the blog? :-)

It USED to be West Seattle BMX!
Whiskey Woods and Circle 8 FOREVER!

Jeanette Williams Memorial Bridge works for me.

actually to complicate matters there are no West Seattle Bloggers. There are only West Seattle bloggers, out there somewhere on their own sites if they really insist on using that ridiculous word. A writer is a writer. PERIOD, END OF STORY, FULL STOP. We are journalists and publishers and correct anyone who tries to call us "bloggers." Some who publish blog-format (newest-to-oldest) websites are humorists, some are advocates, some are diarists. (And some who don't use words are photographers, painters, graphic artists ...)
As to the original subject, we don't have any claim on the initials. WestSide Baby and West Seattle Bowl also use WSB on second and third reference (and beyond) and since both predated us, as did the bridge, I'm not going to try to tell them they can't!

point taken Tracy, Sarah and everyone else. I was mostly pointing out (without trying to be too snarky) that when someone refers to the bridge as WSB or the occasional comment that WSB said this or that when in fact it was someone that posted a comment and had not come from Tracy, Patrick or any of the other fabulous and talented writers that support this blog it can take a second to figure out what the heck they are talking about. . . . .whew, maybe I should use periods to define sentences rather than just as ellipses. . . . .

As the person who is most frequently buttonholed publicly about YOU BLOGGERS I always make the same two points.
1. Would you call an accountant a spreadsheeter? Would you call H&R Block on April 14th and say, "You better get those spreadsheeters busy I gotta get my return in the mail!"
2. Once upon a time people said things over the back fence or over the phone because that's all there was. Some of that was negative as well. At least with the comments, either on the top page or here, you have it in writing.
And with that I believe this brings me to my average of two Forum comments per year. Here's hoping you have a great 2012 and I look forward to seeing you in 2013.

I was guilty, at least during the snow-pocalypse, of thinking WSB always refered to the West Seattle Blog. Took me a little bit to realize that when someone said they went over the WSB that TR & Co had not been flattened.

I forgot about WestSide Baby!
....since both predated us, as did the bridge, I'm not going to try to tell them they can't!
Probably for the best, TR. You'd look awful funny talking to the Bridge!;-)
Patrick, would you be willing to confirm that you won't be making any more Forum posts this year? :-P

While we are on the topic I really don't like that West Seattle High School calls themselves Westside.....
And of course it's the Bridge, like The mountain. And WSB means nothing else to me than WSB. Period. Full Stop. End of Story.Posted 4 months ago # -
patrick: still waiting for that 6-pack of generic beer.

Speaking of The Bridge, ever since a venue opened with that name (35th south of Avalon, very nice people), I have tried to cut down on referring to the Jeanette Williams Memorial Bridge as simply "The Bridge." This whole thread needs a soundtrack, maybe the Bee Gees with "it's only words ..."
TR, off to write a community-meeting recap
