I went to Vancouver, Canada on an extended birthday vacation and though I like the city, I am so happy to be back!

There was nothing more sweet than getting to the top of the West Seattle Bridge at the intersection of Fauntleroy and 35th.

YAY! I missed you guys and my WSB!

  4. JenV...my feelings exactly. I had to get something from my daughter at 4pm yesterday downtown at Nordstrom corporate...6th and Pine...ewwwww...couldn\'t wait to be back here. What\'s up with rude drivers downtown, anyway? (I know, we have them here, too, but.....)

I\'m in Phoenix where it is currently about 105 degrees and, believe me, I can\'t WAIT to get back there!

I have to go east for ten days but would rather get a hammock and live in it right here in WS.

Um, the contrarian here -- first choice Vancouver BC, second choice right here, last choice, everywhere else :-) (Phoenix, NR? You have my sympathy!)

I am in love with vancouver -- first time I visited there, 15 years ago, I looked up an old boyfriend and read the help wanted. Neither worked out, so here we are.

My husband is in love with BC and is very romantic about the place.

I guess if our stay in the B&B was a little better we would have been a little less enthusiastic to be back home but alas....

Hey, we\'re glad to have you back, and I\'m glad to have an excuse to reminisce about Vancouver
    :-)

  10. charlabob.. i too have a soft spot for BC.. but with a preference towards victoria over vancouver. i know.. it\'s all a pretty face.. not nearly the diversity.. and it rolls it\'s sidewalks up before i am ready to call it a day... but there is no accounting for the romance in one\'s soul.

I have such a preference for West Seattle that i have passed up two perfectly good houses elsewhere that met all of our needs to keep looking here...

Maybe the right house is in today\'s pile:)

JoB - I have seen a couple of houses here in Highland Park/White Center that look in good shape. I\'ll try to get the info and blog you with it.

I would like to say that I missed West Seattle on my vacation, but I didn\'t miss the meanness on the forums of this blog. I think there are a few people that post on WSB that need a vacation - maybe they won\'t be so nasty.

And we love Vancouver!! Definitely would be 2nd on the list for moving somewhere.

  12. mellaw6565..

if meanness were the only aspect of this forum, you wouldn\'t keep posting... now would you:)

there are a lot of really nice people on WSB.. even some i disagree with regularly.

And what appears to be meanness is often misunderstanding... sometimes it is not so easy to see how that particular reaction was provoked...i think sometimes it\'s hard to hear that someone thinks your ideas are wrong without thinking that you have been called a dummy... and retaliating in kind.

that said, yup, some people are more consistently personal in their criticisms of others.. going so far as to call them names.

It\'s not good to call someone a dummy.. even if you think their ideas are dumb.

when this really becomes a problem is when more than one person gangs up on an individual with personal insults and the exchange descends into ever more vicious insults.

All told, this is a pretty polite forum.. and i applaud all efforts to keep it that way..

    even on my cranky days:)

I have to admit that I fell in love with Santa Fe when we were there and even living in West Seattle didn\'t make me want to come home. Sigh...it had to come out sometime. It\'s the adobe. I LOVE adobe. And the food. But mostly the sun. It may have had more to do with not having the kiddo along, though. West Seattle\'s a close second.

As far as the fighting on here, I try to ignore it. And I try to only engage with people who I know are decent. And doing the back and forth doesn\'t really work. I think the problem with blogs, is that people say things on them that they probably wouldn\'t in person. We forget our most basic manners!

santa fe.. blue corn tamales in the plaza.. thick walls.. the angle of the light...sigh....

that is one city i haven\'t lived in... but i love to visit.

i just have to have water.. and mountains..
