With Winter here I'm feeling a bit restless and looking for new hobbies or something new to develop an interest in. What things interest the WSB members?
Thanks!

My interests?
Drinking, reading, walking the dogs.
Although not necessarily in that order.
Keeping my 5 y.o. daughter busy, working on my motorcycles, organizing record lp collection, reading W.S.B., and lately, raking lots of leaves.
Hey TammiWS -
Try some partner dancing!
Swing & Salsa!
I'm busy running my 8 year old son and 4 year old daughter around town, going to the gym, meeting up with my friends (and their kids), reading books (Twilight series now). I'm not very artistic but I used to enjoy making cards and stamping before children. Also love to cook.
We have a knitting group on Thursday nights at Uptown espresso. Knitting is a super great winter activity, especially if you are lucky enough to have a fireplace. Our group is really fun and there is always someone to teach beginners. ALso, Seattle Yarn is great.
If I had more free time without the kid I'd take some classes from the community centers.

Hiking, riding my horse, walking and chasing squirrels with the dogs (on leash), cooking, attending cooking classes (PCC in West Seattle is great!)
To contribute to the excellent suggestions you've gotten so far, I'm seconding the knitting! Or crochet or whatever you prefer. It's something you can do alone or in a group, and it's awesome either way. (Note to self: remember to buy the battery powered lamp so you can knit when the power is out!)
Also, I've always wanted to try Flamenco dance classes with Rubina Carmona.
Other ideas... language classes, although the good language schools I know of aren't in WS. I think there's a "cycling university" program in the Junction (at least there was last year). Or just cycling outside. I think walking/running/cycling on the beach is the best during this time of year when you get the place to yourself. (ooh, the PCC cooking classes sound good, too!) And don't forget gardening -- you can do some kind of garden activity pretty much year round, and now's a great time to prepare a site for spring. Have fun, and see you at the WS Pins & Needlers on Thurs. :)
learning Spanish
Thanks everyone for the great suggestions!
I am an avid reader but think I may look into some local cooking classes and perhaps join you for the knitting. I have NEVER knitted or crocheted - a bit of needlepoint when I was 10 but thats it!!
Thanks again, I appreciate it....
Being retired I've been able to spend much more of my time involved with humanitatian projects in SE Asia. Aside from the usual home projects and hobbies many enjoy anyway, I find volunteer work not only time filling, but rewarding as well.
We are meeting tonight at 7:00 at Tully's on Alki to start a book club and discuss options. You are welcome to join us.
VOLUNTEER!
Try http://www.volunteermatch.org/ or http://www.seattleworks.org/ and maybe something new will pique your interest. You'll be giving back to the community, make new friends and learn new things all at the same time! :)
Zen - I'd love to be part of a book club but wont be able to make this evening. Next Monday is open though if you choose to meet again...Thanks for the invite...Let us know what book gets selected...
RainyDay - thanks for the links - volunteering is always good for the spirit!
Belly dancing! I wanna find someone who'll go with me.
I am addicted to bobbin lacemaking; if you're interested in giving it a try, let me know! (It's simpler than it looks.)
Blacksmithing, Electronics and robot building...one day I'll get a shop and more time...
my hobbies include reading...I will definitely try to make the meet up next Mon at Tully's...I also love to run...Beach Drive from Loman Beach to Alki Ave is a picturesque, long, tranquil run...and yes (!) volunteering as well...I help my mom (a local social worker) with her various WS programs, involving single parent families, the elderly, and children. It can be time consuming giveing up your time, but the reward of helping others is worth it.
