    I wouldn't say it's great...but for me it's close, convenient, and okay.

Ho-no. (Sorry, couldn't resist the pun.) Longer story: we tried the food once, and found it to be bad. We are not picky; we regularly eat at all manner of restaurants all over West Seattle. This is one that we decided not to go back to, though. We hear the karaoke is very popular!

  5. Mary, isn't YenWor the one with the karaoke, not Ho Win?

We have food delivered from Ho Win from time to time. I'm really picky about chinese food (as it's so different here from where I grew up), and I find it acceptable. No raves, but no complaints either.

  6. We used to get to-go orders from Ho Win regularly. Honey walnut prawns or cashew chicken and General Tso's chicken.
It was reasonably tasty and reasonably priced ... sometimes the fried bits did taste like they needed to change the oil and they made the Tso's spicier than we ordered but for the most part it's good.
How I'm hooked on Buddha Ruksah chicken and we don't get Ho Win so much.

We get Ho Win delivered probably once every month or so (I've never been inside). We like it - especially the free delivery. My favorite is the Happy Family dish and Sweet & Sour Chicken. Give it a try!

We've had hits and misses at Ho Win but have still found it to be better than any other chinese in WS. The general's chicken is good (always a must) and the mu shu is acceptable. We tend not to stray from the standards as we've been disappointed in the past. They're always friendly and fast.
I second the chicken from buddha rhuksa, hard to beat, plus the bags of gold, so tasty!

  9. It's spelled "Buddha Ruksa", and it's a Thai restaurant, not Chinese. This may partly explain why their chicken is different from Ho-Win's.

Yuk. I don't care for it. And if you want to be even more convinced stop in........ It's kind of gross in there. Personally I prefer Safeways China Express over Ho-Win any day!

  13. Yes - Safeway China Express has tasty -cheap- food but the fact that they STOP COOKING at 6PM even tho' they say "China Express is open until 9PM" means they are pretty much out of food at 6:30 after the dinner rush. P.I.T.A when you go to Safeway with a -plan- to get dinner from there.

At least that doesn't happen at Ho Win.

  14. i am afraid it has never intrigued me enough to step in the door...
but i don't buy chinese from Safeway's china express either:)

when i want chinese i venture to chinatown and follow my nose. I have never been disappointed.

  15. Lee's Asian in the junction is great for a quick fix when you don't want to cross the bridge. Love that place. Not strictly Thai or Chinese, but darn good food.

  16. I wouldn't say it's top notch Chinese but I eat there when I have a craving, it's close.
LOL, Not a raving review is it ?

  17. I ate there once too. Lee's is good for Asian food as is Buddha Ruksa, but spendy compared the ID values. Puppyluck's review reminded me of Garrison Keilor saying about the Lutherans:
    -
"It's not the worst Chinese food"

  18. Or, "It wasn't good, but it was good enough."

  19. The fact that they deliver (promptly) when I get a fried rice craving prompts me to order from Ho Win and the fact I like most dishes I've ordered.
I usually stick to basic Chinese (Fried Rice, Lo Mein, Hot 'n Sour Soup, Egg Foo Young, Mu Shu Pork, Szechuan Chicken, Moo Goo Gai Pan, etc).
Ho Win is MUCH better than Safeway's Chinese, and MUCHO MUCH better than Yen Wor (shutter).
Maybe give them a try with free delivery first.
