We just had a HIGHLY suspicious door to door in Highland Park. Reported it to the police non-emergency line and notified the neighbors, and the police are going to run an extra patrol (maybe...) but we wanted to report to you guys as well.
Someone knocked on our door in the "shave and a haircut" pattern (like a friend would do)
My husband asked who is it, and he didn't answer. Asked again and the man said "I'm Jesse from Quest here to do line service on your house." Husband said "We don't have Quest." The man said aggressively, "Well I need to come in and check it out."
Husband told him no, we don't use Quest, and he said for the third time, quite forcefully, "I need to come inside." Husband firmly said no, and the man said something unintelligible and walked away.
The guy was (from the back) white-appearing, with dark brown hair about 1" in length all over (not tapered at the neck) and was wearing a dark blue or black jacket with a white semi-reflective stripe horizontally across the back just below the armpit level. He was about 5'10" and very average build - not fat but not skinny - maybe 175? His pants were medium to dark - perhaps a medium grey or maybe medium wash jeans. It was dark out, so it's hard to tell color. He was carrying a clipboard and paused to write something on it as he walked away. My best guess based on what I saw was that he was in his 30's.
