Groupon has been good to us again. This time it's $8 for $16 worth of Hey Pasion! food. I know it's not technically West Seattle, but they have been mentioned a few times here.

but didn't see the coupon in this morning's groupon mail. is it a side deal?

  3. JoB - It is a side deal.

And speaking of Groupon, I don't know if you other Groupon junkies have heard about the "Groupawn" - the guy who is living off of Groupons for a year. He is in Seattle until 8/26 and is looking for people to join him in his adventures around town. I think we should cajole him to visit our fair peninsula! He can't use cash, only Groupons, but he can barter them. Is anybody else interested in meeting him? His website/blog is http://liveoffgroupon.com/

  6. I've been wanting to try them, so I went ahead and bought this one. I finally got down there once, only to find a sign on the door that they had to close early that day because they ran out of food.

  8. Jan, the cannoli is what I had on my mind when I was driving down there. Damn the "no dairy" thing - I'm getting me a cannoli! :)

  11. Yes, I am excited about the cannoli, too! I'll have to remember to save room.

After all I've heard here about Hey Paison I can't believe I haven't been yet. I guess this is the nudge I needed.

I got the Groupon and took the family there for dinner last night. I got the cheesesteak (super delicious), hubby got the porkette sandwich (not bad, but not exactly what he was hoping for). Best of all, they will do a free plate of spaghetti for kids under age 8 if you're dining in. It was a small plate of penne with marinara which was perfect for my two-year-old! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

  17. Okay, we went there for lunch today and I thought I'd report back here with my RAVE! Yes, everyone working there was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We were asked if it was our first time there (they must be getting a lot of new business from the Groupon), and then learned that they roll their own meatballs, cook the beef for the philly's, and get the pastrami from Jersey.

We decided on a Philly Cheesesteak and a Hot Pastrami sandwich, and shared them. Both were excellent, but for our tastes, the pastrami was the standout. Very, very tasty - my husband is a pastrami connoisseur of sorts and loved it - it's shaven thin so it's nice and fluffy, and overflows the excellent soft roll with semolina on it...

Next time I'd like to try the traditional pastrami sandwich, which has thousand island dressing and coleslaw on it. Yes, there will be a next time! Although we'll probably share a sandwich and save room for one of those cannolis!

  19. sorry bonnie..
    want to go with me?

  20. LOL Jo. I'm fine. I can survive. Wonder why I missed that email. I need to check WSB every single day now!

  21. Groupon has so many deals to offer that they are asking subscribers for their preferences so they can target the deals they email each day. Check the site and fill out the questionnaire so you get deals for your neighborhood and interests. Or, check here each day! I, too, have missed a few deals but got a heads up from the WSB.
