'Tag Your Pet' is another great idea that will help animals stay with their humans. Furry Faces Foundation needs to raise $600 to launch this new pet retention program. The $600 will cover the cost of a gently used, quality, manual engraver and the initial pet tag stock.
The goals of our ‘Tag Your Pet’ program are:
1.Increase the reunite rate of lost pets with their people.
2.Provide pet tags to animals whose people are financially restricted and may not be able to afford a microchip or other forms of pet identification.
3.During our events, sell reasonably priced, on the spot, pet tags, to those that can afford a pet tag, but just haven’t gotten around to it. These sales will make our program self-sustaining.
If you would like to donate towards the launch of this program, just go to our website,

Why is pet identification so important? Glad you ask:
* The National 'reunite with owner rate' for lost cats is less than 5%; for lost dogs the reunite rate is in the teens. This means that 98% of lost cats and 85ish% of lost dogs never return home.
* The most effective pet identification method is a tag on a collar that includes your pet's name and your phone number. It is your pet's first line of defense and free ride home! If someone finds your pet, they call you and your pet never enters the shelter. If your tagged pet does end up at a shelter, it will be safe and warm until the shelter calls you.
* When used, micro chipped pets have the highest return rate. However, not everyone can afford a microchip, including Furry Faces Foundation. In a recent 2011 study, it was found that less than 5% of pets are micro chipped.
Thank you for considering supporting our program launch effort!
