Harbor Freight?

  1. Anyone have that $35 oscillating cutting tool from Harbor Freight? I'm hesitant to buy anything electrical from this place but for that price, can't resist.

Anyone had good/bad experiences here? And can you buy blades from Home Depot for example and have them work on this tool, or do you have to buy only their blades.

    Thanks!

i dont. i guess it kind of depends on how long you want to keep it. for one job, it might be worth it.

i bought the $100 craftsman, for the fact that Sears' will fix or replace it forever and you can find the blades and stuff at all Sears. plus i use it all the time now.

  3. I think Harbor Freight has a store in Tacoma, in case you might want to have a look at their goods in person.

I have never been impressed by their quality. As the saying goes - you get what you pay for.

  4. Yeah, I agree, and I usually only by little non-electric gimicky things from Harbor Freight because I know about their quality. But for this price!

Todd, have you used the Sears one a lot? I don't believe Sears' return anything Craftsman at any time for a replacement is effective on electrified items. I think it's just tools like lug nuts, hammers, etc. Am I wrong? How expensive are those blades and do they hold up will when cutting nails and hard items or do the wear out after a few of these?

    Thanks!

it worked awesome for cutting trim and hardwoods when we did our floor. awesome for tile and vct. even used it to re grout the bathroom. the nail cutting, not so good. it will do it, but not many before you need a blade. i think a 3 pack of blades was $12 or $15.
what exactly did you want to do with said tool?

btw. there is a H.F. in Kent on Central or in Everett off of 99.

I've had really good experiences with Sears tools. They have an outlet store on 1st Av. where they sell reconditioned tools with a new tool warranty.
I think I have three or four of their power tools from there in my C3 system that have gotten a lot of use and are still going strong. I told one salesman there that the chuck on a drill motor I had gotten there was slipping. He took my name and address and mailed me a new one no questions asked.
