To the guy who was having his "shoes tied" by the lovely brunette in the black pickup truck in the alley behind 4800 Fauntleroy (at the intersection of Edmunds)...Next time you might want to pick a place that is A. a bit more discrete and B. not a thoroughfare through which traffic must flow. I was terribly sorry to inconvenience you, especially as I suspect the meter was running. But you were blocking the direction in which I was driving. I recognize that West Seattle is devoid of seedy motels. But still, there must be another place more conducive to, er, shoe tying.

CJB: HILARIOUS.
I know it wasn't hilarious at the time, but your writing makes it funny after the fact.I agree, there are plenty of good, private places for "shoe tying" -- but maybe the publicity of the area was part of the allure...

FYI- I dont think i will ever not smile when I hear someone mention shoe tieing....

LOVE the euphemism. Thanks for the laugh!

As per WSB rant rules, what happened when you spoke to the "manager" of this service provider?

Ha-ha-ha.
bluebird: Nicely done. :-)
Actually, it was pretty entertaining at the time. I had gone out to pick up a drunk friend from the Showbox SoDo and give her a ride back home. I usually use that alley to get to her place so I was surprised, at 12:30am, to find a pickup truck parked and blocking the alley.
As I got within a few car lengths, nose to nose with the truck, I saw that someone was sitting in the driver's seat but the windows were almost completely fogged. Not wanting to hit the horn at that hour I flashed the high-beams. That's when I realized what was going on. The woman must have been tying some kind of elaborate knot as she popped up momentarily but then went right back to work. But when it was clear that I was waiting the man started the truck and they drove off. I can't say if the shoe tying session was suspended or just went mobile. They certainly didn't demonstrate any sense of urgency in leaving.
Oh and beachdrivegirl, they were not high schoolers. They looked old enough to be beyond the years when it was necessary to do one's shoe tying in the front seat of a truck.

I know I've been spending too much time on Facebook when I go searching for the "like" button. If there were such a thing, this would get a big thumbs up from me. Hilarious. Thanks for sharing your encounter, Christopher.

If only I had the time before Halloween to construct the front cab of a truck for hubby and I to go to some adult event as the shoe tie-ers.

HAHA Carrieann I did the same thing. Doh.
Irukandji, there's always next year!

cathyw: I guess you just never know what you're going to stumble upon in the WSB Forums. Or in the alleys of West Seattle, for that matter.
GenHillOne: I know, right? As it is I practically have a camera in my hands every minute of the day. But the one time a camera would have been handy... Then again, sometimes an image pales in comparison to a cheeky euphemism. :-)

Ohhh man... thumbs up, CJ.
