There were gun shots fired yesterday about 15 minutes after the School session was over at Chief Sealth High School. The car zoomed past 25th and Thistle shooting at a young boy running down 25th by the Longfellow Condominiums. We called the police along with a couple of other neighbors, but yet I haven't heard hide or hare about it on the news, or the WSB? anybody know whats going on? I still see helicopters circling the area. I'm not sending my son into School today.

Gun Shots in Westwood

You probably won't see anything on the news (WSB excluded).
Gunshots are fired all over the city everyday, it's not reportable news for the TV stations or the two dailies unless someone is hit or there is some other hook that makes it unusual.Posted 1 year ago # -
I was in the area and think I saw some of the aftermath to this, and have been waiting to hear back on some details. Without giving too much information (I don't know which side of the story I saw - perps or intended victim), what color - let's leave it at that? - was the car you saw speeding away, CD?

Frequently reported gunshots turn out to have been fireworks, in which case they would not warrant news reporting.

Whatever the sounds were determined to be, it drew at least the six patrol cars I saw. That said, I did not have any reservations about sending my student to school today.

I live close to the school..
those sounds did not sound like fireworks to me
and the police presence was large enough to indicate that they were taking the reports seriously.
i too would like to know what happened.Posted 1 year ago # -
I spoke to the School Principle, they didn't even acknowledge that the police were even called to the School, I saw them there, my husband saw them there, the students waiting for the bus saw them there. but they are keeping it mum. Why so hush hush?
GenHillOne: It was a CD. I really can't say much anymore. I spoke to my son and he said everybody was told not to say anything.
I'm going to the School and get to the bottom of this, I work for the DOC and I know that things can escalate into something dangerous without it ever meaning to. I'm taking this pretty serious.Posted 1 year ago # -
um, "CD" was short for Cataonic(?) Dog...have no idea what color car that's supposed to be. Before you get too worked up though, I find it hard to believe that there would be any kind of effort to keep an entire student body hush about anything. We all know how well that would actually work, right? 1) technically, the police might not have been *called* to the school, perhaps they followed a person of interest over there from the Westwood location and 2) the student rumor mill can be highly inaccurate - again, do you really believe they told kids "not to say anything"? And if he isn't at school today, how does your son know this first hand?

CD- maybe a Cadillac de Ville - the color of creme de menthe ?
in seriousness, though, hope it doesn't escalate.

Sorry about that GenHillOne, my mistake, Well I spoke to one of the acting security on the campus, apparently there was a threat to one of the students by unknown "guys in masks" , they threatened the kid saying that they did indeed have a gun, but they weren't waving it in the air as earlier indicated. Since it did happen off campus and the police were notified, but the School has no grounds to pursue it any further.
The car was a black 96 Cadillac, and that's about all they know at this point. The boy was not hit, he never reported it himself, so the search is put on the back burner.
My son said the kids are all talking about it but it never really happened. yeah.Posted 1 year ago # -
Just a gentle reminder that we check out lots of stories daily at people's requests, but I don't get to check in here much unless flagged. E-mail, text, or phone is the best way to reach us, all on http://westseattleblog.com/contact - thanks.
Our son is a Sealth student and I picked him up yesterday when school let out. He said he heard something in the distance that sounded like gunshots. We have help monitoring the scanners but nothing out of the ordinary was noted (nor did we hear sirens). I know nobody was shot anywhere; I will check with the precinct to ask if they found any evidence of shots. They check out "I heard gunshots" reports so often that we don't even report on all of them unless multiple people ask us about it, and yes, most of them turn out to be fireworks.
