Tonight when I was driving home(Southbound) from Fremont, to West Seattle, I notice a lot of gravel falling on the viaduct around the downtown area. Approx near Seneca street. I noticed a few piles of debris on the ground, but at one spot I noticed a lot of debris falling from above. I thought it was odd, but forgot about it until watching the 11PM news on Kiro and hearing that three cars were damaged from falling gravel on the viaduct tonight. Did anyone else experience this?

  2. The right-hand lane was closed when I came home at 9:30pm and road crews were working on the bottom of the upper deck.

I haven't been on the viaduct lately, but *that* would be a bit disconcerting to see. Is the concrete failing? Hoping there is a superduper superglue for that?? Yikes. :/

  4. wondering here if the demolition of some of the viaduct is shaking things up a bit...

  5. Heard this on the scanner and tweeted about it. Have not heard anything further, however. There was apparently a gravel truck traveling the opposite direction, at least according to the radio traffic at the time.

There was definitely gravel/crushed concrete in the southbound, right lane during my commute last evening (around 5PM). It seemed to be piled around the metal joists(?). I noticed it because it was getting kicked up and hitting my car as I was driving even at the uber slow speeds. I assumed it was getting stirred up but it could have been from above.
