fOLLOW UP: I was concerned about the domestic goose that was loosing neck feathers.to share what I learned:The owner of Baahaus on Vashon island (a farm animal sanctuary)said loss of neck feathers can be result of mating behavior and her geese already were mating (due to warmer weather 2 weeks ago). Also, based on a message I left with animal control, they went out to check on her and took pictures and will check with a vet, but they think she is fine.I'm really impressed that animal control took this initiative.I've learned alot, not the least of which is what a great animal shelter we have (not the grim"end of the line" image I had of the "dog pound" of old--really compassionate people)Now if only people would leash their dogs at the park so the geese aren't constantly getting charged (off their nest, etc.)

  2. I told you that Seattle animal control would do no harm to those geese, You asked for help. I offered but you did not like the approach that I was going to take, animal control. I am a rescue person I would never go to a place that harms animals. I called Seattle animal control and told them about the geese but because I did not know the geese's location they could go out that day. So it seems you ended up with the same approach I suggested in the first place.

I still believe they should be moved,(I am actually still working on that) as they get older they will be at more risk from all those IRRESPONSIBLE owners who allow their the dogs off leash to bother the geese.

I may not be the most tactful person but I will do what ever I can when some one asks for help about animals.

Is this about the geese on the beach near the ferry dock?
They are siblings and their mother was killed by dog.

Babaoul, This is wonderful news, and thank you so much for posting a follow up.

Pigeonmom - yes, these are the geese in question.

  5. babalou-Seems to me you owe hammerhead some credit and an apology.

Hopefully something will work out for the safety of these vulnerable geese.

They and their mother have lived in this area for years amongst natural predators.

The mother of these two was killed by someone's pet dog.
