Good location to view Family 4th Lake Union

Hey everyone - First time attending the Family 4th (with 2 kids also). Not interested in the activities in Gasworks Park so was planning to drive to South Lake Union area around 9pm and wait until 10:15pm for the fireworks...seems like it would be a good view with less traffic hassle...use 99 to get back to WS. Is this a good idea?

  2. We drove down early this afternoon just to check out the sights, drove all around the lake, walked through gas works..... Most streets are closed to through traffic, Eastlake has no parking on the northbound side of the street. I don't know that you'd find a good place to park - what you may want to do is see if the Courtyard Marriot has a room available - great view, parking, swimming pool.

Considering the weather, I suggest the living room couch!

  6. If you want to view them from someplace closer than WS, I'd try Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, something like that, but it definitely will be a mess on the ground in the North End. We have just reluctantly scrapped our plans to go ... there was supposed to be a special "donor zone" for those who contributed to save the fireworks (WSB chipped in) but I cannot imagine how we would get close enough by now, short of driving to Ballard and catching a bus to Lake Union, and even at that, getting soggy. So we'll be looking for some spot in North Admiral, or maybe Harbor Ave...
