I wanted to take the opportunity this year to really express what I'm thankful for, especially when life out there is so tough for so many right now.

I'm thankful for my partner and my family, whose laughter and loving embrace keeps me warm, strong and steady, and helps me to be a better partner, daughter, and sister.

I'm thankful for my health, even with the big ups & downs this year, I'm still tickin' after taking a lickin'.

I'm thankful for my animal children - their unconditional love reminds me of what I should be spreading around to others; their companionship and loyalty is unmatched, and the joy they give is unrivaled. I'm thankful I will have one more Thanksgiving with my oldest dog,who has been the ultimate companion of 15 years and whose rapidly failing health reminds me to remain compassionate to the suffering of others.

I'm thankful for the possessions I have, a roof over my head, a car that runs, clothes on my back and food in my fridge, especially when so many have so little in other parts of our communities. I'm thankful that I have a little extra to share with others.

I'm thankful for my students, many of whom face so many hardships just to get their education even when in survival mode outside of school. I'm thankful for the opportunity to share the lives and minds of these kids and convince them to stay in school to find self-esteem and success.

I'm thankful for all the clients that have come my way in my new pet sitting business and thankful for the blessings that come from a job that helps animals and their owners.

What are you thankful for this year?

This year I am thankful I have the pleasure of cooking my grandfather, my most favorite person in the world, his last Thanksgiving dinner.

I am thankful that my first real experience of the death of a beloved family member will be the hardest, so all that pass in the future won't hurt as badly.

I am thankful to live in a wonderful community full of caring and very thoughtful individuals.

I am thankful for true love and that against all odds my husband and I found each other. Also because he will always see me as "the prettiest girl in the world".

I am thankful for ALL the experiences I have had that have shaped who I am. Marching through the last years of my twenties I have finally found the essence of the person I have grown up to be.

Most of all I am thankful that the purity and innocence of childhood has not left me. I love the play, the dreaming, the hoping, believing that anything can happen and that magic really does exist.

I wish you all a wonderful holiday filled happy memories and inspiration for a better new age ahead.

  5. I am thankful for a new President that might actually lead us instead of pilfering the Treasury. And gas under $2.00, whoda thunk.

  7. I am, of course, thankful for my daughter being so close in my life, for my wonderful parents, who, in their 80's, are going strong, and for my health, as it has been a challenge at times. I'm truly thankful for all that I have....and especially thankful for my community, for the friends that I've made on here, for TR, and Patrick, and JMOT, and, oh, yeah, thankful for good single malt scotch, smoky martinis, and for the sun that will come up again tomorrow morning.:)

And, Mel...I just found out that we have a friend in common...:) I'm thankful for her, too...especially for the good massage she gave me yesterday - lol...

Grandpa loved dinner, but was a little peeved I didn't bring the chocolate stout silk pie.
