Have caught several people in the last week pulling their cars in the alley west of California Ave between College and Admiral and dumping their trash in the apartment building and movie theater dumpsters. Confronted one man, about 60-70 years old, 20 minutes ago unloading trash from the back of his hatchback into the Admiral Theater dumpster.I told him he best leave the rest of the trash in his car or I'd call the police right there on my cell and give them his plate #. What's wrong with people? The condo residents across the alley from us were caught by my roommate a few days ago dumping their trash in our dumpsters .

Garbage Dumping....

Ah, not the same car, but I noticed a guy in a truck yesterday dumping his yardwaste in the ravine on 48th going towards Lincoln Park.
It was an informative morning walk actually - guy dumping yard waste, two people speeding (not rolling stop, speeding) through the stopsigns off Beach Drive to Lincoln Park Way, 3-4 couples with off leash dogs in Lincoln Park staring and daring me to call them out on it, one couple with their dog swimming in the sound next to their canoe - all sorts of activity at 8:30 am on Sunday.
And no, I didnt confront anyone. Other than stare at the woman who stared at me.

I'm sure they assume it's okay because there aren't a lot of people out that early.

And, I watched a business owner on Alki walk across the street and dump trash into the public trash cans on the beach. Uh, who pays taxes on that?
No, I did not confront her.Posted 2 years ago # -
@angelescrest - was she dumping a lot of business-related garbage? Also, I believe she's paying the taxes, along with the rest of us, that pay for the public garbage.

The public garbage cans are for small amounts of personal trash. Whether the business owner pays taxes or not is irrelevant. She's absolutely not entitled to dump business garbage in there.

Let's face it: trash collection is expensive, probably my highest bill next to gas. And, I cannot get along w/out the gas, but--if I wanted to--I could walk down to the beach every night and deposit a nice sack of trash in the public containers.
But, that's not what they're there for, and, in this instance I saw the business owner carry a large load of trash across from her business and deposit it in the cans on the beach. Perhaps it was a one-time occurence.Posted 2 years ago # -
@angelescrest - thanks for the clarification. Just wanted to make sure it was business garbage, as plenty of business owners on Alki have "personal trash" and if they're on the boardwalk and putting their personal garbage (food wrappers, for example)...then they're just as entitled as the general public.
@KBear - thanks for jumping to the conclusion that the business owner was dumping business garbage (about 6 hours before angelescrest clarified).
