Long time, no see or talk.

I just wanted to show you what kind of guy I am...first I must refresh your memory on this topic:

    http://westseattleblog.com/forum/topic/full-tilt-ice-cream

It's been almost 2 years and wanted to publicly say that I owe Justin a milkshake or perhaps a beer at Big Al's.

Justin has a fantastic product, a great little shop (yes, i know 3 locations - but we go to WC) and has been a top notch guy.

The service at FT has always been great, the ice cream is fantastic and you've definitely got to try their Irish Whiskey Caramel Sauce (had some tonight and felt compelled to write). I regularly take my family to FT and have blasted praises all over FB and Twitter about his business.

I am glad that you have succeeded, sir.

Great job and I wish you continued success!

Yes, I have been to Proletariat Pizza (3 times now). I still don't love the neighborhood, but the peeps at Full Tilt and Proletariat are great folks. I definitely want to support the two of them!

    And of course, Big Al's!

  7. Al does make yummy beer, doesn't he?

  8. I had been holding a grudge against Full Tilt for a long time over their hosting some "artist" whose sole purpose seemed to be to make as much noise as possible over a very, very loudspeaker.

As I was trying to look at ice cream, my eardrums were being assaulted to the point of nearly losing my balance.

I assure you, I'm not exaggerating this. It was beyond reasonable and the antithesis of my idea of going out for a nice hand-dipped ice cream.

Anyhow, some things happened between then and last Saturday and its lovely weather which made me feel like it was time to see if old wounds could not be healed by ice cream.

Dude behind the counter could not have been more friendly and there was an utter lack of noise in the building.

End result, the fantastic ice cream experience of which I was robbed last time.

Great local business...at least on nights they're not hosting some wack job with access to amplifiers.

  9. odroku..

in spite of the fact that i think it is a really cool thing that Full Tilt gives local bands a venue... i avoid them after dark on weekends.

if you go earlier you can take a pint home to enjoy at your leisure.

Just went in today with two of the three girls I care for... they were just as exited to see skeeball as I was when I first saw....

We took home some whiskey caramel sauce, and made our own vanilla bean ice cream in one of those balls you roll around. Yes, our ice cream was delicious(I'm sure it doesn't compare) but it took every fiber of my being not to drink right out of the caramel jar. More delicious than I have words to describe...

I'm gonna have to come in sometime sans kids to get in on the beer with my games. Can't wait.

I have to venture over to Proletariat sometime, too.... but every time I'm near there and hungry for anything besides ice cream, I can hear those pupusas from the Salvadorean Bakery calling me over.
    Resistance is futile!

And, yes, everyone at Full Tilt is always super friendly.

My parents were visiting last month and read about FT in a New York Times article about sweets in Seattle...so we tried it...and I can't stop thinking about the salted caramel ice cream! And did someone say broasted chicken? Where? My very first job in high school was at a place that made broasted chicken and it was yummy.

  16. I took a bike trip down the coast once, and in Oregon, there were signs up everywhere for broasted chicken. What the hell is a broasted chicken?

I'm no expert, but an old friend who was an apprentice to Jeff Smith at the Chaplin's Pantry in Tacoma turned me on to broasted chicken.

He would seek out the places in town with the equipment and then he would always check the color of the oil or whatever is in them, before he would order any. Apparently, a broasted piece of chicken is only worthy if the oil is pristeen and it's been less than an hour from the broaster. It's not as greasy as fried chicken, but tastes like very good fried chicken. More or less.

    Here's a blurb I found:

  18. Last I knew there was still that broasted chicken place down at the Market.

  19. [What the hell is a broasted chicken?]

A little piece of heaven, I tell you! We had a place in my hometown that made it.

And yes, Chicken Valley in Pike Place Market is still there, broasting for your eating pleasure.

All this talk about ice cream and chicken is making me hungry!

Isn't it pressure-cooked? Where I grew up we has a Mr. Chicken (It's Broasted!). I don't think we ever tried it...mom was an incredible chicken fryer with her combo of Crisco and butter. No wonder I have the figure I do.

  21. i think Broasted Chicken is what they make at the Mexican place a street to east from Full tilt.. just off Roxbury with the chiken with attitude wall art..

today is not a good day for remembering names:(
    But someone else will...

i think the broasted part has to do with putting it under the broiler after it is roasted to crisp up the skin.

  22. Nope JoB that is just roasted chicken. Paisano's isi the name of the place. Really the best chicken in seattle. A little healthier than something deep fried too.

Check out the link I put up @ #17. It is pressure-cooked in oil in a restaurant-only pressure-cooker. There is no broiling with the Broaster equipment. Broiling is the home-cooking attempts to emulate the product of the trademarked, restaurant/food service-only equipment. Pressure cooking oil at home is a touch dangerous (way to dangerous for me!), so that may be why the equipment is commercial only. But I recall my friend trying to find a used one to have at home. I don't think he ever did. He was a highly trained chef and little bit short on common sense. :) But, dang, could he cook!

  26. We went to Full Tilt last night with our two little tots. Loved the vegan choices-particularly the vegan apple pie ice cream! Yummy. We are really lucky to have such a great place nearby.
