Free showing of 'The Christmas Story' at Admiral Theater

  1. This is going in the calendar but also approp. for Freebies ... so here goes - from Dinah at Admiral Theater:

    >>The Admiral Theater will be hosting a free screening of the classic Christmas movie, A Christmas Story, Sunday, December 21 at 11:00 a.m.

It's our way of saying Happy Holidays to all of our friends in West Seattle!

Humorist Jean Shepard's nostalgic view of Christmastime in Indiana during the 1940s is a holiday classic. Nine-year-old Ralphie desperately wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas and wages an all-out campaign to convince his reluctant parents Darren McGavin and Melinda Dillon that the toy is safe. Meanwhile, as Ralphie prepares for the big day, his brother has a strange relationship with food, and his dad fights the never-ending furnace battle. <<

  4. Actually, he looks like a young Hugh Hefner after he got tired of trying to explain his idea to the other investors, and just wanted to show them where his imagination was going.

  6. Don't forget to drive by the leg lamp house near Hanford and Walnut afterwards!

  7. Gina...how come I don't know that house? is it on Hanford or on Walnut?

    Posted 3 years ago #
  8. I know it is on Hanford, where there is a zig zag in the street, so I never rememember what the cross avenue is. I think it is between Walnut and 39th.

I have been stuck at home with a cold all week, so I haven't had a chance to check.

This is one I may have to try and make. One of the channels (TBS?) runs ACS, non-stop, Christmas Eve-Christmas morn. I always switch between that and It's A Wonderful Life as I frantically try and wrap the last of the gifts.

  19. My daughter is rallying the troops to go see this movie! I hope the theater has heat!!

    Posted 3 years ago #
  20. The movie was fun - the theater did not have heat, or if it did it was a bit chilly anyway. While we've seen the movie tons of times it was fun to hear reactions of people who hadn't seen it before (the one or two!). Thanks to the Admiral Theater for this holiday treat.
