   I have upgraded my cell phone and have a blue Sanyo Katana phone that works perfectly fine up for grabs if you need one. This phone does not use a sim card. I received it from my wireless service, Working Assets/Credo Mobile, is about 2 years old. Working Assets/Credo Mobile uses the Sprint service. It has always worked well for me, and I think I almost never, ever have dead zones in the West SEattle area, except maybe up near 55th SW and SW Genessee. It's a flip phone with camera..also has the recharger, and I know I have the instruction booklet somewhere..will find it today.

   Jan - you can always drop it off at Staples in Westwood Village (they have a bin near the door) and they will donate them.

   i think theres also that program where you drop it off and it is given to battered women or something....there was a huge artice in the newspaper awhile back for that....let me try to find the drop off locations.......

   JanS: There are a number of national programs that will take your unwanted cell phone and donate it to a women who is the victim of domestic violence. For a local program you might call the King County Coalition Against Domestic Violence (206)568.5454.

   Another program, endorsed by Amazon.com, will load the phone with pre-paid minutes and will provide it to a soldier serving in the Middle East who can use it to call home.

   Just beware of those bins at some of the corporate chain stores. Too many of those cell phones get resold on the black market in the developing world.

   And whatever you do, you should NEVER toss a cell phone in the trash as they always contain toxic chemicals and heavy metals that can leach into the soil. As a last resort you can take it to an electronics recycler like RE PC on 6th Ave South in SoDo.
