FREE 11X17 HP Laser Printer

  1. HP Laser printer Beta version. No model number. FREE. Worked fine the last time it was plugged in. Liberty Bell Printing 206 935-1212.

  2. WTF? Even the "LaserJet" had a model number in 1984.

How much does it weigh? And what kind of idiot do you think would take something that badly described in hopes of using it. I don't think PCL3 even works on xp and up.

If you are serious about finding a home for it, take off the panels and look for the service tag and serial number.

If it really is a beta used in the R&D of the Canon printing engine + HP controllers and software, then call a computer museum:

  3. It's free! And what kind of idiot do you think rants about someone giving away something for free? If you're interested, pick up the phone and call the giver... make an appointment to look at the free item and do your own research. If you're not interested, go find something positive or healing or uplifting to do. Don't just rant at the person who's nice enought to offer something for free in a public forum.

  4. I already have an 11x17 laser printer. I have repaired printers and computers since the 80's.

Dead printers end up at my house fairly often so I know it often cost to get rid of them.

I am mainly looking out for my current clients who may be tempted in which case I will end up having to do the research and possible disposal.

The poster did not give enough info to do any meaningful research and as a "printer" had to know that.

  5. KEN,
Be careful of what you say people should know. We did not use this for printing. I do not claim to know anything about the printer other than what was posted. It was given to us, along with an 11 X 17 printer, by a graphic designer who works with HP. It is a beta version and says so right on it. We got a digital printer before we began to use this. Maybe you don't know everything either.

We are not forcing anyone to take it, just offering it before WE take it to be disposed of. I hate to see a working printer be destroyed, That is all no malice or trickery was intended.

I am in the middle of dismantling a store that has been in place for over 35 years. I do not have the time to do the research to see if this matches any current models. Just trying to get it to someone who might be able to use it.

Ken...Liberty Bell is trying to provide free items to people during a very, very difficult time for him. And you SLAM him! Shame on you. Eat some humble pie and apologize.

Wow! And I thought that I was the only one who woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

  8. ok I will apologize.

I DO apologize. If you have not found it a new home, perhaps I can come down there and do an evaluation and post a description as to what it will do and what it will hook to.
If it has a jetdirect card it would be handy for several home based businesses or political activist. That card could also possibly be swapped into the very nice color laser in the other post. If it prints on cardstock it becomes a very cheap sign maker. If it is parallel or serial, people need to know since many modern computers have neither interface.

Ken...I have a new found respect for you. Thank for not only apologizing to LibertyBell, but for offering assistance in evaluating the printer. Way to go.

  10. Well.. I have started checking my blood sugar and blood pressure levels before posting or replying so maybe I won't have to eat so much crow in the future...

  11. Thanks for apologizing, Ken.

There's some on here, that had they posted as you did in your OP to this thread, I would have jumped down their throat.

However, even with knowing that you, like me, are a member of the Occasionally Cranky Old Fart Club, ;-) it seemed out of character for you, and I figured you'd be coming back with an explanation.

  12. OCOFC.. Ha... Made me laugh. And Ken, you are a stellar human being. I recommend the crow lightly toasted with salt and pepper. I've eaten a great deal of it myself in this life. :)
