Found Cash on Admiral

My boyfriend & I were out walking on Sunday afternoon (1/08) at about 1 PM, and we found some cash on the sidewalk on Admiral, on the bridge over Fairmount Avenue (up by Metropolitan Market).

There was no one but us in either direction on the bridge at the time, so I'm hoping the owner or someone who knows that person is a WSB reader. We're also going to file a police report, just in case there was a robbery in the area (thanks for the advice, Tracy).

It's enough money that we're sure the rightful owner is missing it. These are tough times for many out there, and we know this could be someone's grocery money or rent money. If someone can identify the amount and denominations, we'd like to arrange to return the money to them.

If the rightful owner isn't located, we're planning to donate the cash to a worthwhile charity.

Aw, that's nice. I hope the owners are WSB readers too.

So good of you! Hopefully it gets back to whoever lost it.

I hate to be a cynic, but I witnessed a very obvious drug deal at the corner of California and Lander the other night so can't help but think it's dumped drug money.

There is probably like a 30 day period after you file the report to try to find the owner and if no legit claim is made (after attempts like this)...it's yours.

Things happen for a reason. Perhaps this is a test to see if there is good in people?

Understand the cynic part too...Lets hope it doesn't go back to a person involved in anything illegal.

  15. Yes, it's solved. I'm writing about it for the home page right now, since it's just a cool story of honesty :) - TR

I posted an update in the comments for the story that Tracy wrote, but I thought I'd post here in the forums as well.

The owner of the cash we found ended up being Heidi Herr, owner of Bird on a Wire coffee shop. When my boyfriend and I met up with Heidi to return the money, she told us that when she discovered the money was missing she had posted a note on her Facebook page. Apparently, a sharp-eyed friend had seen my post here, put that together with Heidi's Facebook post, and urged her to contact Tracy to see if perhaps it could be the same cash.

Tracy got us in contact with Heidi, and based on information that only the person who lost it would really know, we knew we had a match. My boyfriend and I met up with Heidi, who brought us several bags of the Raven’s Brew coffee that is served at Bird on a Wire. We weren’t looking for any kind of reward, but as two big time coffee drinkers we couldn’t be happier. :)

We are so thrilled to have found the owner of the cash so quickly, and of course it never would have happened without West Seattle Blog & this awesome community. We’ll definitely be stopping in at Bird on a Wire to get our java fix and to say hello to Heidi.
