I reacted to mine - hot, cold, mild acheyness. Unusual for me. It went away overnight.

It's my understanding that this year's shot for high-risk groups is a super-duper high potency shot. I'd assume it's the same for non high-risk folks as well.

Got mine at work a couple of days ago - no reaction, not even a sore arm.
K-man - perhaps it was just coincidence? About two weeks ago I came down with a fever and backache. Thought I had the flu, which I've only had once before, but recovered in 24 hours. Very weird.

Got mine at the Junction QFC Pharmacy on Friday--and now the BF's sick.
My only reaction was when I ran the arm I got the shot in right into the edge of the tall bookcase. Yeah, I'm cool and graceful like that.

I got mine at the Swedish West Seattle clinic. It may have been high potency, as I'm in the high risk group: i.e., old.
The handout they give with it warns that there may be side effects. That puzzles me, as the viruses are guaranteed dead. So what are we reacting to? It doesn't explain that.
But I have to say, the reaction is milder than the flu I got last time. I was miserable for a week and and not back to normal for another week. If I can prevent that, I'll accept a few hours of mild unhappiness.

you all do realize that the flu shot is a dead virus and can't cause illness, right? Only the nasal spray medication is a live virus.

The handout doesn't call it illness. They call it a reaction.

I have never gotten a flu shot but I think I am getting over some version of the flu now. Its possible this might be the first year I get it.

often, you've already been exposed to something when you have the shot. Your immune system gets busy building antibodies to the shot contents, and you come down with whatever you were exposed to before you got the shot. It's not that the shot made you sick with its contents, it just distracted your immune system a bit. Still better than getting the really bad flu strains if you're in a high-risk group, which I am.

only bad reaction I get to flu shot, every year, is very sore arm for couple days; if I could, I would get the nasal spray medication, but those of us over 50 are not allowed; boo
