tjw503MemberSomeone who is seemingly unaware of the current fire conditions, the time of night, or any standards of consideration and common sense is having a field day with very loud, high flying fireworks. I called 911 to report them, but the response was pretty blasé. They did indicate officers were in the area but weren’t sure where the fireworks were coming from. Given the size and duration of the show, how hard could it have been to track them down? I get this isn’t on par with a shooting, etc., but, given the tinder dry conditions of the park, I would have hoped for a little more reaction. Looks like they’ve run out of M80s and Roman Candles at this point and it doesn’t seem like the park is burning, so hopefully we can all now get some sleep.

tjw503MemberAnd now I see there actually is a shooting in The Junction so my comments may look kind of callous. I believe the fireworks were well before that and I was not trying to compare the two.

JeannieParticipantYou didn’t seem callous at all. And you have every right to be upset about the fireworks. No, it isn’t on par with a shooting, but still the fireworks are obnoxious and dangerous.

anonymeParticipantI heard them too, and thought the same thing. I was already having trouble sleeping due to the smoky air from the wildfires. How absolutely stupid must someone be to set off fireworks in these conditions? This activity should be treated like the menace it is, rather than as a mere nuisance.
I’d like to sic a dentist on them.

ellenpParticipantThank you for reporting it, I did too. I think maybe it is one of the beach houses south of the park that lights them off every few weeks. Last year I drove around the neighborhood trying to figure out which house it was and saw a police officer cruising the neighborhood. He even got out and walked down the dock.
If it really is one of the houses down there, you’d think a neighbor would report them.

BonnieParticipantWe were in Lincoln Park yesterday evening and there was a big party at one of the houses just south of the park but north of the ferry docks. I’m suspecting they were the ones letting off fireworks.

wakefloodParticipantYeah, I’m right down there and tried to figure out where it was coming from as well. Could have been in the cove but it’s getting ridiculous.
You want some pretty lights and some crackles, ok, go for it if you’re in an area where you won’t light something on fire but for the sake of the dozens of pets that WERE NOT enjoying the big booms, please, just grow the eff up?

melissaParticipantAnd someone was exploding fireworks near Fauntleroy Park Sunday night, as well. Both I and my dog were about apoplectic.
