Finally. It is about time someone regulated these pollutant gases. “The heat-trapping pollution from our cars, power plants and humans leads to killer heat waves, stronger hurricanes, higher smog levels, and many other direct and indirect threats to human health.”

  2. Yes, finally. Amazing, isn't it, lots of talk here on WSB about the financial woes the Bushies foisted upon us, tends to cause us to overlook all the other mischief they were up to.

Vote GOP, the atmosphere is overrated!

  3. If you click through and read the Times article underneath about hurricanes you will see that all of the research and data simply does not support Mr. Doniger's quote about "stronger hurricanes." But much of the populace thinks this is true because Al Gore said so in his film.

I'm totally in support of protecting and restoring our environment by reducing or eliminating all of the pollutants we pour into the air and water. We should do it because it makes sense, not because of fear mongering and manipulation of science. On a day when it snowed in Las Vegas in late April for the first time since 1958, I'm still of the school of thought that climate change has much more to do with the influence of the Sun than carbon-based pollutants.

but the carbon based pollutants aren't helping the situation, are they.. and we can do something about them.

We don't have the technology to do anything about the sun...

  5. JoB: In a sentence, I don't know. But I don't want to waste any more time going back and forth with you about anything. It is usually an exercise in futility. Let's just jump forward 30 posts and say we agree to disagree. There. I just saved us both a lot of time. No need to thank ;-)

No political comment here, tho' I am not a Gore supporter. But I DO support the federal intervention to control greenhouse gases. The science is clear, while there are normal fluctuations in climate, what is happening is clearly human induced. I am not wiilling to debate this -- its time we move on and do something about it.

  7. i saw a program today that pointed out the damage that coal fired electric plants do.. and they are firing them up like crazy in china...

at the current rate.. the glaciers that feed many of the world's water systems will be gone by 2020... something i never thought i would see in my lifetime.
