There is a young woman wearing an orange shirt walking around our neighborhood today being extremely pushy about wanting to talk with moms about education. I had an egg in my hand when I answered the door and told her twice that my pan was smoking and she said she could come in while I multitasked. She wouldn't leave me any information. Don't answer your door unless you're willing to give her time!

  2. I got one of those a couple of weeks ago. From the Southwest Company, or some such. She was pushy, indeed. And she copped a little attitude when I told her I didn't want to tell her where the homes with kids were on the street, and how old those kids were. She said that by giving her that information I could help keep her from "wasting her time" by knocking at houses where no kids were.

Company is legit, and I even found an entry here in the forum from a while back referring to the same thing.

  3. They were at our place last week.
And like Andy, when I told her not interested, she asked if I could help her out and point out which houses had children.
Not really a great selling technique.

  4. So basically this is door-to-door sales, based on the wikipedia link.

I live on Juneau St. in the Seaview neighborhood and last Friday I was just getting out of bed around 8am when I heard someone come up on our porch, but then there was nothing. Nobody knocked or said anything. It started to freak me out so I went to the front door and this girl said hello because she must have heard me move into the entry way. I then proceeded to ask who she was and she just gives me her first name and then said nothing again. I basically had to drag any and all information out of her to find out what the heck she wanted and she said the same thing as mentioned above, looking to talk to parents of children and where were the best houses to go. I never opened the door to her. I'm glad to have an indication as to who it was now since it did freak me out.

If they were the same people at my house today around 10 AM, they got a quick slam of the door after I told them no solicitors (I have 3 "No Soliciting" signs leading up to my door). Sheesh.

If it is the same gal that came to my house on Saturday, she is very pushy. I was in the middle of a 12 kid, nine year old bday party and she was very irritated that I would not stop and talk with her.

She implies that she is with the school district in the way she presents herself. Later I talked with my next door neighbor (who happens to be the PTA prez) and my neighbor questioned her extensively. Turns out she is trying to sell textbooks for summer studies. Not a bad idea, but PLEASE do not imply you are associated with my daughters school!

A few weeks ago a young woman came to our house and told me she was there to talk about education and also get me to purchase books from her. She already knew which school our daughter attended and also she knew which schools the other children in our neighborhood attended, then she asked me which houses had children and how many. I asked her who is works for and some contact information, she told me she was an independent worker and she would not answer me about how she knew which schools the area kids attend, all different schools so it was strange she had this information. She left our house and proceeded to go house to house but she was angry because I would not give her any information about my neighbors.

When I saw this post I was a little afraid to click on it. I thought "Door to door girls" was like one of those "Girls delivered to your room" ads you see in Vegas.
We haven't had any "Door to door girls" in our neighborhood that I am aware of, but we did have a very persistent man who claimed to be from Quest. He would not go away, and came back multiple times in the same day. He ignored the "no soliciting sign". Finally, after the 4th time he left and we haven't seen him since. Something tells me Quest doesn't go door to door...
