alsmith3602ParticipantToday as I walked down to my car from my house I noticed a man parked infront of my house in a dark purple car. As I approached my car I smiled as I walked past him and he said “hey how are you? I was just coming to say hi to you!” I again smiled and got into my car. When I arrived back at my house a half hour later he was still there, sitting in his car. I quickly went into my house and about 20 minutes later he was at my side door of my house. He was an African American man, wearing a bright green shirt with a century link logo on it and was carrying a few folders. I cracked the door a bit and he gave me a small speech about switching to century link etc etc. I told him I wasn’t interested at the moment but he could leave his card or any information with me, he said he didn’t have it on him. I found that to be odd, a salesman not having any information pertaining to what he was selling. He also wasn’t wearing a name badge or any identification at all, in fact, when I first opened the door, that was one of the first things he mentioned. (Not having any identification as he quickly explained was left in his car by accident) this just seemed all too strange to me and I was wondering if anyone else had a similar run in. This was today at about 2:40 PM near the West Seattle Athletics Club.

JTBParticipantThat sounds weird. However, also yesterday two girls looking to be high school age were canvassing our neighborhood for CenturyLink. I cut short their pitch, pointing to our No Solicitors sign and one said they just wanted to inform us of a coming Century Link upgrade in our area. I noticed they had clipboards and handed some flyer to our next door neighbor.

WSBKeymasterTwo things:
#1 – PLEASE call CL and ask if they have solicitors working your area. If they do, they might want to know about the behavior – we also heard from someone who had an alleged solicitor that they said was outright rude.
#2 – JTB – on the WSB FB page, there is a post about a 16-year-old girl missing from Kent who a reader believes came to her door with a clipboard last night. Might have been the two you saw.

clulessinwsParticipantDoor to door sales people are so annoying. They basically trespass on private property all day. I don’t know anyone who likes a sales pitch at home. So why do these door to door solicitors persist? It must be working or they’d stop.
.
Stop answering your door! Let them know someone is home in case it is canvass situation and they are looking to break in to an unoccupied home. Other than that, you are under no obligation to answer your door or your phone for that matter.

JTBParticipantThanks, Tracy. The picture on FB didn’t ring a bell. These girls seemed to have a school uniform—white blouses, dark skirts, maybe maroon.
