Assuming my passport arrives in time -- looking promising, since my birth certificate arrived days earlier than promised -- we are seeking suggestions on awesome places to stay in Vancouver (BC) and Whistler. Will need to be dog-friendly. Would love to hear your recommendations!

    Thanks!

looks like you will need to get some documentation from your vet:

    as far as pet-friendly accommodations:

    http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/accommodations/pet-friendly/index.htm

    http://www.vancouver-bc.com/accommodations/petsallowed/

I just picked the first site that popped up for each search; you can get more results if you search for '(city) bc accommodations pets'. I used Bing but their archenemy Google would work too.

  4. our favorite hotel, the buchan, recommended The Sylvia to us when we inquired about dogs.
haven't stayed at the Sylvia, but it's in a nice Vancouver location and allows dogs.

The Sylvia Hotel is also a great song and album by Cheryl Wheeler. I was going to say it wasn't the same hotel cuz she's an East Coastie, but it is!! Sad song about a breakup, but beautiful and poignant. Mentions a cat in the bar, but no dogs. Wonderful album too.

btw, in case you hadn't heard:

Seattle Passport Agency on the move

The Seattle Passport Agency is moving to a new office at the south edge of downtown, with more space and service windows for issuing passports to travelers.

The existing office, in the Jackson Federal Building in downtown Seattle, will be closed on Aug. 5 and Aug. 8 in preparation for the move.

The new Passport Agency office will be at 300 Fifth Ave., Suite 600, Seattle, WA 98104 (the cross street is Yesler). The new office will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday starting Aug. 9. The office serves customers with urgent travel requirements by appointment.

Schedule an appointment or get passport information by calling 877-487-2778 or see http://www.travel.state.gov. There will be a nationwide "Passport Day" on Saturday, Sept. 17, where travelers can apply in person for passports and get advice from staff without an appointment.
